What CCP doesnt get is nerfing weapons is not the solution to fix a broken or inexistant matchmaking system. If CCP starts to get noobs involved they need a nice place where the noobs can thrive. There are so many solutions to this.
For example: Create a zone where the DS and Weapon levels can be maximum 2. This would enable the pros to play, minus their precious proto gears. Another option would be to actually have a match making system in place where the matchmaking is donebased on the skill levels and not just a random orgy.
You cannot have the RPG element in place and pit high skilled players against noobs.
I very much agree with you!
Certainly the best solution is to match players of similar level of play with others in the same level. Most MMOs I've played do exactly that. CCP is going to need to keep everyone happy , both the newbies and the experienced (high level) vets. Mixing them both in the same match is a poor solution IMHO, equalizing weapons/gear/etc for all is a poor solution IMHO...the best way to do it is to set up matches in such a way where same level players are pitted against same level players (or close to).
I personally would rather see it done in a way that certain battles are only available for each level of player. Some kind of auto-matching system might be OK too I guess although it's not my first choice. I've seen some suggestions for having mixed matches where both sides have equal numbers of low-levels and high-levels and I get the thinking of that but I think the reality of it would be a disaster.
Whatever is done in the end I'm sure CCP has considered all things and will implement a satisfactory solution. Well....at least I hope so! One good thing about a game like this is that if one system is implemented and proves to be a problem they can make changes at any time to try out something new. One of my favorite aspects of an MMO is the constant evolution of the game allows much more freedom than the average console game.
