Backstory: While recruiting potentials for my Corp, I found that there were a few noobs that showed a lot of potential. Rather than bring them into my Corp, I decided it would be better to use a training academy for them and then pull them over. The solution was to create an alt in the training Corp and proceed forward from there. So I created my fun new alt and decided to duke it out. I am starting off at 500K Sp and my main has 9 Mil SP.
Starting Skill Set: LW sharpshooter 3, AR 3, Weaponry 3
Starting Kit: LOL AR Enforcer
Match 1: So I run into an ambush map team stacked. Just my luck. My very first ambush and I have to run into them. I see a random red dot scout running around and I think this is great. I run upto him and try shooting him with my militia AR. Doink! Nothing happens. He turns and fires. And within a second I am dead. Killed by an Exile. So... that was pretty much the situation of the entire game. I ended up 2 - 9 in that game.
Next Step: Upgrade Mechanics to Level 3. Yay! More hit points. Buy another merc pack for the Toxin.
Match 2: I decided skirmish would be better for me. Apparently not. Team stack again. I sneak up on this dude hacking an objective. Spray and pray with my toxin. Hardly any damage and the clip is empty. He turns around and I am dead the next second. Pretty much the entire scenario that game too. Although I did a tad bit better and went 3-5
Next Step: CQC is not for me right now. Upgrade laser rifle to level 1
Match 3: Much better. I manage to climb up the platform on the 4 point map. Not cruely team stacked this time. I go 6 - 1.
Next Step: Eff this crap! I am going back to my primary.
Learnings:
1. Dust is not a place for randoms and noobs this late into a build. If an experienced player like me can get destroyed so easily, noobs will be raped. This goes back to what I was saying about noob only zones or match making based on skills. 2. Match making is horribad. I have seen so many corps do a queue sync and team stack other randoms or corps. I mean seriously;- this is a beta. Your win loss ratios aint gonna matter 3. I took out a dude with a Duvolle with my militia AR. Me with almost 250 HP in total took down a dude with almost 500 HP in total and carrying a Duvolle. This was a straight up face to face one on one fight. I should have lost it but for some reason I won. My free equipment should not have been able to do this unless there was a tag team involved.
CCP needs to re-evaluate its match making system. Team stacking and queue syncing in pub matched are becoming common right now. If you want to play as a Corp thats what Corp matches are for.

Please tell me how is it fun or improving your game when you team stack a bunch of randoms? The most boring games I have had is when I have team stacked other randoms. And when you team stack someone they bring out their militia gear. ISK and SP rewards are absolutely meaningless when you get hit by a stray militia sniper.
How is it improving the tactics you would use against an organised corp when you are red lining randoms? How is it improving your gun game when all you are doing is waiting with 3 other dudes below the MCC for a red dot to spawn?
Matchmaking if any is broke. |

KEROSIINI-TERO wrote:As a player with high SP main, why would you divide SP's? You know better than that (granted the LR needs only L1 and that's it)
Laser rifles at level 1 overheats too fast. If you want to be effective with a laser rifle you need the elm and a very high light weapon sharpshooter skill. Damage mods are broken now. Once it is fixed you will see less cats with Lasers and MDs.
KEROSIINI-TERO wrote: - Did you tune the default fit at all? It is outright terrible without adding some militia modules (BPO's preferably). Granted new players should not be expected to do that.
Default fits qoute mediocrity. I am not.
KEROSIINI-TERO wrote: 1) There are many things you can do with young character. But roaming solo really isn't one of those - and even then you still can have success in that from time to time. When I created my vehicle alt from scratch it did fine (using only AR, ofc, as vehicles come in later). If using kdr as a measure, the scores were like 10/2 or 20/5. Warpoints were plentiful because of uplinks and revives. It STILL has AR L2, sharps L3 and weaponry L3 and that is ALL skills infantrywise.
We are not talking about my fits or allocation of my points. We are talking about match making.
KEROSIINI-TERO wrote: 3) Sorry to say but your mindset there is dead wrong and terrible as well. You are saying that if someone has better stuff he is automatically better and should never lose. FPS's are so situational.
Huh? Totally off topic again.
KEROSIINI-TERO wrote: Finally, even though I'm not sure if you're referring 'team stacking as either playing with a full squad or having two squads on the same side, it's not right to tell people not to play with your friends. Player interaction brings so much richness to this game (and others too) and is also to my understanding a fundamental part of Dust.
You should prolly start writing for dusters blog. They need a lot of help with speculations.
