is the dumbest idea ever combined with the flattened damage rates on all guns there is next to no reason for anyone to use higher tier weapons besides AV weopons because it's 1000x cheaper to use the exile then just slap a damage mod on it or just go with the increased damage from skills because when you see proto suits with standard guns on them there's something clearly wrong |

This is why I've been trying to fight all standard BPOs (The tribute suits and merc pack items.) My threads on features have been swarmed with people who want Pay to win. Some people on there actually want proto BPOs.
Chunky Munkey wrote:It's only 4k isk for the same effective weapon.
Thats 4k per death. For my cheap fit that is 80% of the fits cost. For my mid-end fit its about 8% of the fit which is a huge bonus when you consider that I can field 1 additional suit after nearly 10 deaths. Combine that with a free standard dropsuit and free standard SMG and each suit is really saving me around 15k. Thats 1 mid-end suit every 3 deaths. |

Ya this is has been discussed at nausem but bares repeating. I think once CCP re-adjusts AR damage between classes this will sort itself out.
The BPO standard stuff does save you a lot of money when you don't use anything else but they are def. no type 2 or above. And once you are able to make these fits make you money not only are you a more powerful merc but more versatile.
With the standard BPOs one can gain a lot of money but won't be a huge factor in a game. |

In cqc the Exile is very good indeed, no point in using any other gun. I don't use any other gun on my Raven or type-B suits.
On my VK1 proto suit on the other hand, a Duvolle is definately preffered. Its not so much the extra damage but more a question about accuracy. Shooting at long range, there just isn't any good substitute for the Duvolle except perhaps the burst ARs, and those are definately an aquired taste. A proto setup that I normally run costs about 230K isk, no point in making it cost 180K, the gain in battle performance is definately worth it on such an expensive fit. |

Comparing the monetary price is futile. People will always be using even marginally better gear and paying huge isk for that, dont' expect the cost-efficiency curve to be linear. Most importantly, these are beta prices which mean nothing. When/if there's gonna be free market, it'll speak for itself.
If you're comparing the PG/CPU cost, THEN you have a live topic. Reword this or create a new one and then you're spot on.

Also for what I can tell, BPO's wont be entirely free in the final release anyways. Much like EVE, the blueprint is only part of the cost associated with manufacturing; materials are also required. It has always been my assumption that even BPO's will require materials to produce, and thus not be "free". In short, BPO would simply save you some marginal cost because you would not need to purchase a BPC, but still need to have the materials on hand. |

Not sure about that. Did someone else read that all our precious modules and weapons etc are blueprint copies, with blueprint originals highlighted? Perhaps in the intro video of the game itself?
That would mean that both BPC's and BPO's would manufacture the physical item on the spot. Either from t-¦hin air or some limited pool of resources (that's what I thought initially first hearing the term 'warpoint' that each warbarge would be carrying a pool of nanite mass or something called warpoints) |

I forget where I read/saw it but essentially yes, manufacturing happens on the spot. Considering that starships can be built in a few hours, making an assault rifle in a few seconds isn't all that unreasonable. |

Important matches will be going full proto/advanced, and the standard BPO's will just make the grinding games cost less per clone. Want free grinding gear? Then pay CCP a few bucks. |

I can tell a definite difference between the AR levels as I switch back and forth depending on suit type and amount of funds available. Anyone who openly switches between ARs should see the difference also. Skill leveling and weapon mods causes the AR levels to overlap though where an Exile for one player reacts similar to a GEK for another. In any case, I do not see a reason to restructure the current AR leveling. Besides, I have really started enjoying lazers recently. |

That's the thing, though. They could make a lot more by switching their focus to cosmetic items rather than Standard BPOs. Just look at Planetside 2. You can barely find a player without custom weapon skins and cosmetic armor upgrades anymore. Of the things SOE screwed up on, that's one thing they did right, and they're making some pretty serious bank that way. |

i wouldnt agree with this its all gungame/geargame for the most part im using the raven with a standard AR mil smg as secondary one mil armor repper and one mil armor plate with 2 mil shield extenders and im avg anywhere from 2-4 kdr a match placing top 2 in game most matches and gaining about 250-300k isk a match because my suits cost effective |

Anyways, Selling one permanent item for 2 dollars will make you FAR less money than selling consumable items for a penny. BPOs should stay out of non-militia gear so ccp CAN make money. |

Like the Noble Exchange? Yes, but EVE is also fueled by subscriptions, not vanity items. Dust however is going to be entirely dependent on AUR income, and honestly I seriously doubt that vanity items (especially when you can't even see yourself in battle aside from your hands) will sell enough to support the game.
If the game is going to survive, it needs to sell items like BPOs and Boosters, because I can guarantee you that the number of pink dropsuits sold is not going to be enough to keep the servers running. |
