Access to many marketplace items takes WAY too long! If I run out of an item during battle it's impossible to replace or restock it because of the MP access time. If I try to restock or replace anything I end up spending so much time in the loading screen that I'm usually kicked out of the battle before the MP loads...if it ever loads at all.
Although I've had the beta access for 6 months this is the first week I've really spent any amount of time playing. Not sure how previous builds were but this one is horrible with the timing on Marketplace access. Even when not in battle, some things take so long to access that I give up on it before it ever loads in. It's strange though, one second a page will load up immediately but if I leave it and come back it will often take 10-15 minutes to load the second time. Makes buying new items a real PITA! |

Unfortunately this is unlikely to change soon. I highly recommend doing all of your prefight resupply from the merc quarters, as doing it from the battlefield takes just as long. Often to your detriment. CCP may have things in the works to expedite but often the issue can be a net hiccup, or speed of connection.
Best bet is to prebuy your gear IMHO. Only do market work from the respawn screen, and only if you MUST. |

Strange? I think not.
Have you even played console games before? Look at the data, loading screens are a way of life. The consoles, all of them ever, have no memory. Or at least so little compared to a computer and a modern phone or tablet as to be considered nothing. If you remember OverLays from days of old (either early Doze or DOS) this is the same problem. And on the PS3 the entire disk is encrypted. So everything going there and coming back must be encoded or decoded.
When a battle is loaded, things that are not necessary are flushed from the system while textures and data important to the next task, usually a battle, are loaded. Now you have all this wonderful data to go butchering around in like the fun filled murderous savage you are in your heart of hearts.
However, in the middle of good quality deaths some other like minded savage had shortened your clone's life span abruptly and reduced your Drop Suit count to Zero or one of its fittings was emptied. Now the game has to load in Market stuff. With a system that is still sort of monitoring a game in the background (judging from the network activity I can see) icons, data and information have to be reacquired. Then it must be reloaded into the miniscule memory, forcing something else out. Part of your battle one might guess.
I always have a cheap suit to fall back on if the situation develops poorly. A cheap assault along with a cheap Logi can turn the battle around, at least financially. The information is already on the system, because they knew you had these so they must be close enough in memory or disk so they can be retrieved quickly enough if you change your Fit.
Second load times in the order of minutes are probably bugs that we have previously mentioned to CCP from time to time. They are working on them, but some take time to resolve.
Please, order up front.
Save your anger for those that oppose us. Or just oppose you if that is what it takes. |
