Guys, you might have addressed this, and if so i am sorry. Maybe i just suck at flying things, but the dropships are a pain to pilot as they are 1) fairly expensive for a new pilot, 2) are beyond super sensitive and you spend half the time crashing, which adds up in the ISK price very quicky. these problems could be fixed though maybe with some kind of piloting tutorial for players that want to learn to fly them, where its just them, and a unlimited number of basic fit dropships. Or, maybe tune down the sensitivity on flight controls. I also have the same problem with the LAV, it is super sensitive driving. Hope you all have a Happy New Year at CCP.

I think a repeatable piloting tutorial would be a great addition. And I agree that that LAV is super twitchy. It drives like it weighs nothing at all, skidding all over the terrain as if the tires were racing slicks. They can't make decent tires in this universe? |

You will find dropship handling to a bit slow once you learn how they fly. Just stay near the ground for a clear reference and keep all control inputs small as you train. Be aware of pilot induced occilation which comes from over correcting. If you find yourself tipped too far in one direction apply only enough opposite control to stop the bad thing and then neutralize the stck. Then gently correct to get back where you want to be. This will prevent you from overshooting your correction and getting yourself into an even worse flight attitude.
Check out my Dropship Flight School thread for more information.

Welcome to the ranks of DUST pilots and good luck! Seriously read his post. I crashed three Militia DSs before I did and flew the next one right after.
Skihids explains the physics, the controls, why they act the way they do and indeed actually must react that way.
There are various posts, some from me, regarding having a training ground where everyone is a blue berry and cannot shoot at anything. Just fly your brick and get good enough at it to take into battle.
Good Luck. |

I actually really love the DS controls. They are a bit insane feeling at first, but once you get the hang of them they are actually quite rewarding and maneuverable. |

Skihids needs to come back on IRC so we can talk about some dropship stuff IMO.
That said, the collision damage was severely increased this build. Last build I could kiss the ground to pick people up or crush an enemy without taking any damage (or very minor amounts) yet this build I will take massive damage or even instantly die.
The low flight ceiling and the ridiculous collision damage are my only real gripes with flying though. |

Waiting for some DS love in the next build. Right now the DS is sitting in the hangar. |
