If this game is going to be an MMO it needs a scence of progression. CCP encourages us all to spescialize and become very effective at one specific task on the battlefeild, which is good. I like that idea, it makes the game intresting. It was said it will take 7 years to learn ALL the skills dust has to offer, but when we spescialize, it doesent take 7 years to finnish your class. Ive almost maxed out the heavy class in a few monthes, and that is too fast for an mmo that will be around for a long time. When the game launches we should be getting less SP or have a higher SP recuirement per skill. Much, higher. In Planet Side 2 it takes a very long time to progress, and should here. We should be getting at most, 100k SP a week to ensure the game doesent progress too quickly and everyone is a protobear in no time. Maby even less than like, like 70k. It would take a long time to progress and that how it should be, or new players would never catch up and everyone will be far too powerful too quickly. Peoples attention spans would tire for dust if they simply counldent get better as well.

Haha, right? It would take forever but thats how it should be, right? Have a scence of progression, keep the game intresting. When you get powerful in a feild its because you took the time and effort to actually become skilled and RPG up your charichter to be better than the rest. Ethire way, were still better off than eve pilots and they love the game. It seems ligit |

Troll to some people :) but nahh in all honestly id like to see it. I cant picture a game as big as this getting ruined because people would have nothing left to do in their spescialation and bog down to repitition |

Yea... but at some point that also gotta stop. Or those new skills would be bland and trivial that wouldn't change anything.
7 years to skill up all the skills that they had at that point in time. |

i agree with slow progression but maintain that to be successful this game needs to allow people to grind, the SP cap will severely limit its appeal, once a few months have passed from release the whole argument of SP cap allows ppl to have lives won't cut it with players that are behind and don't have to keep up with the few hundred beta testers that want to be running top tech without working hard to maintain it.
Making ISK will not be a big enough goal for a new player to be interested they'll want to grind into the next bit of gear, not wait 4 days for their playtime to mean something to them. |

Im not gloating my e-peen, but yes i am better than you at this game is every way you can possibly think of and yes it is because i play more than you and YES youl never catch up to me, thank you for telling the world something we all knew and find some creative ways to kill the competition, as everyone is better than you and you dont even have a name to show on these forums while everyone else does. Dont insult your betters for speaking their minds, you wont last 2 second when the game starts or on the battlefeild when i see you cuz ill skullfuck you with my 22 hour proto e-peen. Thanks. Anyway, everyone would be getting the same amount, just like they do in eve and they make out well by being smart, crafty, working together to defeat a stronger foe and using the skills they have to compete with with the competition and it works out very evenly with rewards to keep everyone going. For example, how long will it take you to get a GEK? That will kill people fine, proto or non promblem solved. Same thing in dust, everyone will have the abililty to compete with each other, nearly 100% of the time. If you dont have the patience to play an MMO, go play COD. What is terrorable about it? List some facts and back up your statement, i listed some good ones up there. And i said the same, it will take 7 years to max out ALL the classes. It will take much less to max out your particualr class that your spescailzing in, im almost done heavy in 3 monthes and thats simply too fast for an mmo |

Very true, but the game will be larger than pub matches at that point. Corp battles will actually mean something, and planetary invasions will be occuring all the time. There will be defenders and attackers, so if you dont play you loose your planet and standing with Eve corps. When this actually becomes an MMO, you have to play the game or you loose everything |

There's going to be A LOT more skills to be putting SP into come launch compared to what we have now and the value of the SP may decrease/increase by either less earned in battle or it requires more to be useful - as you said in your OP. But a 100k SP cap is going to turn every serious FPS player into a different direction.
500k SP cap was fine - I think if they increase the cost of SP to use then they could mask the absurd cost with higher SP gain. |

I agree completely. But balancing it the way CCP wants with only 2 valued currency ISK/SP is difficult. They may need to introduce a third currency for hardcore gamers to keep there attention so the SP cap can be kept with minimal complaints. |

I'm not a fan of hard caps regardless. Personally I'd rather see it be a soft cap that bottoms out at 1k SP a match after you get X amount during the cap reset period.
Though, the main reason the cap is a problem right now... is that there is really nothing else to do but grind for SP and ISK. Most people just play until they cap out and then play something else. Once the ability to actually fight over territory and other persistance features start appearing, we'll have more incentive to play beyond earning SP.
In regards to the OP, I think 70k a week is way too low. It would take forever to upgrade anything past level two, and people would get quickly bored. It would do nothing but widen the gap further between people who already have high SP and people struggling to get any.
I think the current pace is somewhat fine, but like I said, I don't agree with hard caps because there's nothing really to reward people for continuing to play after they cap out. I'd prefer to see the daily cap back like they said was coming. |

Couldn't have said it better myself. I just wish I had run one character last build instead of 13 different ones, I would be SOOO freaking close to you on kills right now.... >.< My lack of a life makes it so easy to rack up SP that I started running three characters and every time I messed up my skill progression or became unsatisfied with what skills I was running I deleted and started over. Now I'm running a poor little month and a half old character that I was mostly ignoring for the first two or three weeks of it's life. And my kill totals are spread thin through all of those characters I sent to be recycled... Looking forward to the next wipe Maple so we can see who has less of a life there bro.
Back on topic, this is what I've been saying for quite some time. CCP needs us to skill up faster so they can test everything out in a timely fashion. If it's not tested out properly in a short amount of time, then they are going to have to continuously postpone this already ungodly long BETA process. Once the game actually goes live I am certain they are going to cut the SP gain to it's intended level. They may have bonus SP days or such, but the skill progression is going to have to be slowed down if they want people to keep playing. Once people max out their classes, all they have left is to start branching out into other classes for the hell of it, and that will get old fast. The key will be to slow down progression and sift in class specific skills to keep people working on furthering their own preferred class. |

It looks like to me that all the gear we are using right now is Meta gear and something similar to faction gear in the proto. I expect that there will be t2 mods and guns that will need to be skilled into further. Plus all the hardner skills/ market skills/ social skills/ assuming planetary management or something like that skill tree. I think the skills we have now is just a small showing of skills. Plus in eve u can be in a t2 hurricane in 3 months but that doesn't make u an expert in flying it. My suggestion for skill and sp threads is just wait and see before we debate if its enough or not enough after all most of the game is still comming SOONGäó

Us whiny QQ Impotents have already mentioned this on IRC and through email to CCP. They need to implement an LP type system that EVE has to create 3 different currencies.
