I realize that Inertia Dampeners dampen your inertia, but where does it go? I feel like it should take all that force and expel it at the ground when you land like the effect shows. Now, if your expelling all that force when hitting the ground shouldn't it do slight splash damage as you land? If it did do this splash damage/push it could be used tactically with dropships. The dropship takes you over a fortified location and a squad jumps out breaking the formation and grip of the enemy on the location. As is, when dropping out of the MCC or a dropship or off a building, you're very susceptible directly after hitting the ground. What do you guys think? |

Unfortunately, F=ma where F is the force, m is the inertial mass, and a is the acceleration. For some kind of inertial dampener to work it would have to reduce the inertial mass, which would reduce the force exerted on and by the falling object.
Fortunately this is a game, so f*** physics, I like this idea. +1. |

This would cause friendly damage as well, correct? Physics, even game physics, doesn't care what color the berry is. |

Inertial Dampeners work by exerting your mass and energy around the surrounding air, and when the Inertial Dampeners are deactivated, the mass quickly dissipates from the air, but the energy remains, causing the air to shock-wave out. Seems feasible enough. It's not like EVE is superhard Sci-Fi. It's harder (closer to real science) than Star Wars, but still. |

The damage wouldn't be enough to kill someone outright, just maybe do some light damage and push them back a bit. |

I want to be able to activate inertial dampeners any time i'd take fall damage, and the impact of the dampener being able to kill or severely wound most dropsuits. think of it as a falling melee attack. |

Maybe just the camera jar effect of a mass driver, the air doesn't have enough force to injure, but still pushes against dropsuits near by. It could start weak and have a skill to boost it. Odd situation specific skills like this should reduce the gap for new players, since older players will spend more points on them and less on direct combat. |

The closer you are to the ground before you hit X, the more damage / effect there is. Personally I just want to see more people going splat by trying to hit X at the last second lol.
Even if it did not damage, it would be nice to have a nice big push effect that would confuse enemy soldiers on the ground and if a poor red berry just happen to be exactly where you land they would be crushed to death |

Fortunately this is a game, so f*** physics, I like this idea. +1. Actually the device takes the force of the impact and matches it with a greater force to counter it. Think of it as setting off a grenade a split second from impact... but in a circular direction. Meteorites inflicts huge aoe shockwaves but the core survives. Dropsuits are like that when the explosion occurs. Plus clones are genetically stronger than you'd think... imagine dust 514 as a war between thousands of master chiefs. |
