Question?
The smg is considered a sidearm but the description says a light weapon.
So which skills effect the smg as far as sharpshooter, weapon upgrade, capacity etc.
Cause technically they are considered both. So do they get double the skill tree ability
Or does the sidearm skill only apply if it is slotted in your sidearm spot ? |

I actually don't know. I think it only applies in Sidearm slot, and Light Weapon in primary. |

It can be fitted in the sidearm slot. That would suggest the game code recognises it as a sidearm weapon, with all the skill ties that includes. Descriptions are usually the first to suffer where details are concerned. |

The interesting part if this seems that it also can be considered a light weapon and used as a primary so which skill applies to it then or do both? |

You can put pistols in a heavy weapon slot.
Basically you can down grade a slot but not 'upgrade' slot assignment. |

this was a great suggestion.
What I found out is that it is considered a sidearm only. It lowered the CPU for SMG, however I put into the heavy weapon slot without any other CPU usage and the decrease in CPU transferred to it in the heavy weapon slot as well even though it is not a sidearm anymore. |

Basically, weapon size class skills apply to the weapons directly, not what ever winds up in the size class's slot.
And sidearms have always been able to fit into light and heavy weapon slots. This does not affect how the skills are applied. |

It doesn't matter what weapon goes in which space. Heavy weapons : HMG, Forge. Sidearms: Knives, pistols, smgs. Light weapons: everything else. |

The skill is related to the SMG itself, not the slot it is currently assigned to. Of course, it will transfer with it, whatever slot it is in. |
