How is opening a thread about the inability of some of the beta testers to have a constructive conversation, and in order to show examples of this I have referenced a previous thread of my own devising, reopening said thread? The meager justification that you read into the forum rules is exactly what my wife does, bend the law to suit her needs. And in this case you have bent forum rules to suit your needs.
I did not reopen a locked thread. You just didn't like the question I presented in the thread you just locked.
And what about the application of rule number 8 " Immediate banning from the forum can result from any of the following:The posting of pornography; discriminatory remarks which are sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive; excessive obscene or vulgar language; posts which discuss or illustrate illegal activity; providing links to sites that contain any of the aforementioned." When it came to some the comments I had to respond to due to their pejorative and demeaning format (such as the homophobic language used in the thread about the Representation of women in Dust).
i.e., #7Posted: 2012.12.23 09:04 | Report 13 Lofl youre kidding me right? Youre seriously focused on the fact that they gave the female avatars definition? What you want? A super dyke butch female built and carrying dumbbells? Its a game we stereotype females as having nice figures.
You want a fat girl? Perhaps double d's with a beer gut and a limp? Throw in a black eye? Not all men are built the way they're portrayed in this game, we don't whine. Although some of us do have jobs and visit the gym regularly.
I find the application of the forum rule to be ambiguous at best, if not discriminatory due to the fact that said response could and would be considered as excessive, abusive, obscene, hateful, and sexually offensive (which I have noticed that is not in the "DO NOT" list, why is that?). It is not that I had a problem with you locking the thread finally after over 300 responses and over 2000 viewings. Everything has to come to an end in time. I just presented a question of clarification as to what constitutes "Off Topic" in this recently posted thread especially when the determination is coming from one person (or a small group) with an arbitrary vision of what is socially acceptable for these forums. Especially since your understanding and application of said rules is determined by your subjective interpretation of them (i.e., you will assert your position of power to promote and insert your normalized ideals and understandings, as would anyone else in a similar position).
These are all reasonable questions one community member SHOULD have the right to ask of another, especially when the OTHER is playing overlord of the forums. I would just hope there would be a more equitable interpretation and application of such ambiguous forum rules. Alas a person can dream.
People may come to play this game as a means of escaping real life, yet the reality is, like I said in the thread you JUST closed, the real world gets dragged into this game regardless of what we want. Kind of like dragging home the work day and all of its mishaps.
AND a FYI. I KNOW this thread will get locked too and I will probably receive some email from CCP about the threat of me being banned. That's ok. Not the first time I have been threatened with censorship or excommunication. |

Icy Tiger wrote:Those quotes were reasonable questions of opinion. Topics are locked for a variety of reasons. In the end, I don't know what the hell you want. Do you want the females we have now? Or some tough, masculine ones?
Also, you should be happy it carried over 17 pages, I mean wtf.
Icy;
This is not about the previous thread on female representation in Dust. this is about the arbitrary application of the forum rules and how I got slapped in the face with the rule book while others seems to get away scot free with their abusive responses and interactions. And If you can't figure out what I want via my previous responses, then take a moment, get a dictionary and garner a better understanding. Afterwards we may be able to talk more about your questions and my rhetorical premises.
And would there be a problem IF someone wished to play a "tough, masculine one[]" ? Why the pejorative connotation?
And who said I wasn't pleasantly surprised by the fact of how involved and tumultuous the engagement became after I released that thread on to the likes of you people? I am, but I am also disappointed by the compete social blindness that was presented for all to see (and I have to say there is a great amount of willful blindness).
Obviously I may see more in the occurrences of my surroundings then others. Tis a shame the beauty and understanding that so many people seem to live without. |
