Well, because recently I saw good threads about Logi suits and Nova Knives, I thought I'd relate a story of mine "old-man-style" about the two.
(Read in the style of Wilford Brimley, atop a horse.)
Back about 3 months ago, I had just created my 2nd toon finally, -a Logi. Felt like I was comfortable enough with the game, and was playing enough to really run into the skillcap, and so here I was in a random pub match, on my own, just looking for blues to run around with and help out. I watch a friendly get mowed down at med. range, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't seen so I flank around behind a container to go get a possible easy kill, and sure enough, catch the guy running blind, and finish him off.
-Already sprinting towards the nearest cover, I almost forget about the recently downed blue, but I see the nanite indicator flashing behind me and remember what I was in this match for. Getting back just in time to Pulp-Fiction-stab him back to life, he pops up as I cycle to my repair tool. Now, even after just a few games, I'm used to reviving someone, only to have them sprint off out into the open before I can safely rep their armor, but thankfully, he immediately moves into cover, and I'm able to get my rep tool on him.
I guess he wasn't really paying much attention to this random dude that revived him, and he starts sprinting off as I follow him, but just around the 75% armor point he realized he was getting reps and suddenly stops, turns and starts hopping up and down! I've got my headset on, but since no one else ever seems to, my headphones are silent, and the enthusiastic jumping seems to be this guy's way of miming "THANKS BRO!!" I think this is pretty funny, but assuming there might be more reds around, I get flinchy and turn to start scanning the surroundings. Finally, as I carefully start moving in and out of cover, the blue dot starts running out in front of me and I keep pace behind. Soon enough though, he is far out in front of me, and just before he starts climbing the stairs up to a supply depot, a heavy pops out from around the side.
Jumping back down off of the stairs, I watch the damage indicators on both of them as they lay into each other. I realize the two of us might not be able to take this heavy down in time with just our AR fire. Off the top of my head, I figure I might be able to pull off a hail-mary locus grenade, while I could do my best to settle my rifle sights directly on him. I barely notice that my blue buddy had turned tail and was trying to sprint out of range, as the grenade found its way close enough to its target to take him down to low armor! Not wasting any time, I try to ignore the HMG turning towards my flimsy drop suit as I kept on the trigger- long enough to see my blue turn back around and lay the remaining rounds into him that brought me a reassuring +25. =) Maybe it was the unexpected explosion followed by friendly rifle fire, maybe it was the secession of HMG fire drilling into his armor, but as the heavy laid there bleeding out, I once again pulled out my repper and this time Mr. Friendly Blue DotGäó was positively bouncing around- and I was admittedly feeling a little bit like a boss.
With a smile about this ^________^ wide, me and my blue bro headed over towards the next hostile objective. This time, he's keeping a little closer to me, and I'm able to glance at the overview map and see that there's already another blue dot near the objective. Liking my odds, I take a wide flanking position and let my buddy dive in. Running around behind the building, I happily notice the objective letter start blinking, and carefully round the last corner........
Clearing the edge of the building, I see a completely different picture than I expected.
I see three mercenaries underneath the Objective structure. One is standing, two are flat on the ground. A confused glance back up to the overview map now only shows a white nanite symbol..... At a 90-¦ angle in front of me, something moves F*cking fast, tracking across my screen at an angle. I have, no. clue. what is going on. With one last glance up at my map, I now see one lone red arrow, and as I glance back down in front of me, it abruptly turns directly towards me...... -You know those slow motion "movie moments"? Either on screen, or in real life, there seems to be a surreal ability to take in large amounts of detail from your surroundings, or even have thoughts racing through your head at fast forward speed... I am watching a slender figure, cartoonishly leaning into a sprint directly towards me, and I know something is wrong. I am still perplexed because I do not see a shotgun, yet, a smirk is growing across my face as the semblance to a martial arts/action thriller crosses my mind. The smirk stops in a twisted curl, as I raise my rifle in a panic, reassuring myself that I can melt a scout suit before h--- OH MY F*CKING GOD HES JUMPING STRAIGHT UP AND THERE'S F*CKING KNIVES IN BOTH OF HIS HANDS LIKE IN SOME JUGGALO DREAM/NIGHTMARE SCENARIO WHAT IS THIS SOME F*CKING JOKE *SHRRIIAANK* NO OH MY GOD NO HE REALLY DID- OMFG - I JUST GOT OHK'D___________________
As the screen goes monochrome and tilts sideways, the last thing i do, is look up at the overview map, as i see a lone blue dot approaching the vicinity. I say a small prayer for him. I look up at the damage notification, and see some vaguely ICP-looking name... (Crazy Clone Carne something????) ....and I laugh. I busted out laughing SO. Hard. I realized, that I actually yelped helplessly out loud, when dude jumped up in the air, and I saw MURDERKNIVES. And that made me laugh even harder. And I realized, how hard that Motherf****r had to work to get his kills, and just the fact that there was some scary dude running around with knives made me <3 this game so much more.
So, in conclusion, Knife on, you crazy knifers. =) |

I'm originally from Indianapolis, and ICP was popular there... I never liked them... It took a lot of self control on my end to not run over the kids in the facepaint..........in facepaint 6 weeks after a concert........... i kept telling myself "it's not worth 10 points" and my luck one of them would get caught on the transfer case of my jeep |

You should have seen what it was like in Anderson back then Bro, I cannot tell you the number of times I got clocked with Faygo bottles as a way of saying "Hello". Not all of them were pains in the Kitten, but many, many were.

I like to give a medal to that one nova knife dude who skewered you. Takes balls of high grade steel to run up to you like that with just a knife and the prowess of a cheetah to manage to land a kill on you. |

I started using nova knives recently, and they are indeed more than a sneaky sneaky weapon. When there's the chaos of a close up fight, people don't think to run away from a knife until they're already dead. Took out a ton of assaults and logis in these situations with knives, even on only my first day with them. |

When there's heavy fighting going on, it's very easy (not to mention fluid and enjoyable) to just go around stabbing everyone in sight. |

hahahahahaha. Oh man, yeah those Nova knife can freak you out. It's really easy to forget about them till you see them in game. I remember one game where Maken Tosch was on the enemy team and he jumped out of a blob of maybe 4-5 guys at one of my Corp. mates and was swinging his Knifes at him. My Corp. mate was freaking out and as we told him to backpedal we unloaded into Maken and killed him, saving my mates life. Was a great and surprising scene though, and MK BARELY missed him. Would have been a funnier story if my mate had died to be honest xD

Yep exactly. I was at work the next day, blabbering to co-workers about it, all of whom couldn't f-ing care less, let alone even knew what I was talking about. He surprised me 2 more times that match, then I switched to a shotgun scout, and we had some freaking awesome skirmishes, I think he got 4 kills on me that match, but when I finally got ONE on him in CQ, it was freakin' fun. |

Lol
I hardly remember that. There were so many ways I killed players.
Imagine if friendly fire was on and I was sprinting around your pack between you guys. You probably would have killed your mate before me. XD |
