I'm curious what people who have bought Aurum have experienced while shopping and their plans post release (when money spent will not be returned).
In particular BPC Aurum equipment. I bought some just for the heck of it and hardly ever used it because I couldn't get it out of my head that each death was real money. Even though it will be returned after beta and was relatively inexpensive. I highly doubt I will buy any BPC equipment after release.
Boosters make much more sense as money spent towards Aurum equipment can be spent earning more SP that can be used to equip equivalent ISK variant gear a wiser long term investment.
BPOs are easily the most powerful Aurum purchase. I currently run the Type 1 logistics BPO dropsuit with all militia BPO modules and the exile AR. I generally don't have a problem being in the top 5 of my team on the scoreboard so I am contributing to my team's efforts. Plus all match earnings are profit no matter how many times I die.
It will be interesting to see how purchases change once the open market is live and what items will bring decent Aurum to ISK exchange. I think the open market will boost Aurum sales a lot because players will buy Aurum in order to make ISK easily and to give friends gear that don't want to or can't buy Aurum themselves. But will we see a lot of BPCs on the market for ISK? or will it be mostly BPOs and boosters? |

Boosters, skill spikes (dunno what they are or will be but they will probably be worth it) and BPOs at the start, as stuff gets serious i'll probably consider using AUR to buy weapons that are proto level with advanced fitting requirements. |

I'm working on changing my habits to prepare for the future- I'll only be spending AUR on BPOs and UVTs for now. Possibly active boosters for special occasions. |

That's a really good question OP... But first I need some answers from the future. - Will BPO's still require materials to build the actual suit ? - What will these materials be ?In any case , I will leave Aurum gear only for special occasions, like retaking an important planet, tourneys etc... I really dunno my future plans about Aurum hehehe |

as the owner of 5 merc packs yeah i am 100 bucks into the game because i like the concept and i like that they listen. i buy everything right now just to see how it works as long as it works i keep using it and i have found that currently some things are useless in there current state but this may change later when more stuff is added. i have also bought alot of stuff that i do not use at all and it is wasting away in my inventory.
Right now i buy things that made me stay alive longer first, then what made me kill people faster second and then what made the people around me survive longer and kill faster or more efficiently. |

All the BPO's and UVT's. I refuse to spend it on anything expendable items (except UVT's) because I do not want to get stuck in the trap of buying Aurum all the time to stock weapons. A example, this guy was cussing CCP in local the other day and when I ask him what was up he said he wanted his money back from buying EIGHT merc packs. I was like wtf were you buying that many packs for ? His response was I like the tsunami mass driver (I think that's the gun not 100%) and wanted to stock 1500 of them. Smh idiot. |

lol like if it would be so hard to get lvl 3 mass driver and replace the AUR version with the real deal. Well back to topic: In my opinion skillboosters and BPO's are only worth the money. Well i dont need to buy the MAG suits cause i got all 3 of them when there was a special offer combined with the merc pack. Well having all militia equipment and modules as BPO's came quite in handy as i had to start my char at scratch at the beginning from the old build. so for now this is what i will get when we move to open beta (reset will be part of this): -all militia BPO's -UVT's -Passive skillboosters

Current buying consists of whatever I think would be fun to use or something I want to test out. When it gets real it will be all the BPO's, then boosters and UVT as required. Depending on cost of course... ...still waiting on a T1 Heavy BPO to add to the tribute suits collection... |

You guys pretty much already nailed it......
At first, I was like, SWEET! I can use this uber gun now for some Aurum, and I'll just train it up laters......
But after watching it all **** away, I realized that Aurum is for skill boosters and BPO's. -WHICH- I happen to think they have SPOT ON. I feel happy with my $ spent, and use in-game for bpo stuffs.
So, at the end of the day, I'm actually quite happy with the model CCP has going right now, I think that they can get new players into the game with the F2P model, but I think the incentives are good enough to get people to drop $20 at least once, and feel like they got their money's worth- but people like me who are really into the game will be glad to drop extra for some more goodies.... |

I've read the EULA and manual as well as searching for like half an hour here on the forums but I can't find a simple explanations as to what is kept and lost upon the final release. Could someone give me yes or no answers to these questions.
Is AUR kept upon final release?
Will BPOs be kept upon final release?
If so, does that include both purchased and acquired (ex. vouchers and events)?
If not, will the AUR be refunded? I know this contradicts OP's question but I am very confused and am asking this because in a lot of the other posts, I keep seeing it put as purchased AUR. I can't find where it specifies purchased as the total you have purchased or what you have after spending some. "Any AURUM Pack purchases made during this beta phase will be credited in full to your in-game DUST 514 character account in connection with the commercial release of DUST 514." -quoted from https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=18203&find=unread and I'm assuming MorduGÇÖs Private Trials is what this beta is.
If I received 20k AUR from the ps3 bundle voucher, does that count as "purchased" or will that not transfer over to the final.
Thanks in advance. |

I cleared that up with Axirts
I will buy the BPO MAG suits... and Passive boosters.....
If the SP cap is anything in commercial like it is now... I do not see the point in buying 7 day boosters. at the end of the 2nd day I'm earning in the hundreds so I dont want my money to be wasted on the 3 4 5 6 7th days UVTs--- definitely BPC probably only to sell them for ISK when i need some. I feel that if I spend actual $$$$ I should not have to continuously replace it.... this defeats the purpose of not having a monthly subscription |

just wanted to add.... I was a sucker for MAG's DLC
so if they come out with some different colored BPO suits and stylish guns BPO'd I know I can sit here and say all day that just because it's a different color doesnt matter but in reality I would buy them
I would love to run around in a Char's Custom dropsuit... after all they're 3X faster ^_^ |

right now my aur buying habits will probably not change after launch. there are times when i am running low on isk and so i use a pure aurum fit( not often). i mainly use aur for weapons even though i am at weapon lvl 5 so its not that i dont have the skill for the isk weapons i just would rather spend what works out to a few cents for a weapon than 70,000isk. of course BPO'S UVT and etc that everyone already mentioned as well. i have been averaging about 20.00 to buy aur per month and of course i am an eve pilot too so overall CCP is getting about $35.00 per month from me but i do it cause i love both games and even though i could play without aur i know it helps make the game a success which in turn gives me new shiny toys in the game as it is expanded. |
