Ok I was reading a book recently and they had the concept of a rumble drug, using said rumble drug you gained a large boost to your abilities temporarily at considerable cost afterwards. So I got to thinking perhaps Dust could have something similar, perhaps an offshoot from the nanite injector that was for personal use only. Taking up 1 equipment slot, It comes with only 1 shot, cannot be refilled through the use of nano hives or supply depots, lasts for 30-40 seconds, can only be used once per match (due to it putting you a tad out of sync with the rest of your clones) and has the following attributes upon use:
Pros: Increased stamina Increased stamina regeneration Increased movement speed (running and sprinting) Increased melee damage Increased grenade throwing speed Increased grenade throwing range Decreased recoil Decreased use of stamina while sprinting, melee, jumping etc
Cons: Upon use the users Armour instantly suffers 20% damage of the maximum value Due to the volatile mix of chemicals entering the body nanites cannot revive players using this meaning should they be gunned down they will instantly die (this effect is persists even after the drug wears off but does not effect any of your other clones after the injected clone has died). Once the drug has worn off players will then suffer from a small decrease in maximum Armour say 10% Reduced stamina Reduced stamina recovery Reduced movement speed (running and sprinting) Decreased stable firing time (you know how if you're using an AR you can pull the trigger and it'll fire straight for a few seconds before the barrel starts to rise? Less time before the barrel rising basically)
Now then you're probably asking why implement such a thing sure it has some cons but the short term benefits could really be OP. Well on EVE as well there are "combat boosters" that you can plug into yourself to give you a boost in one area at the expense of another. I thought if they make those why not some sort of variation for Dust players. I figure if they can only be used once per match along with the cons that come with it these would be perfect situational items to try and turn the tide in one last heroic effort or die trying. Thoughts? |

Vyzion Eyri wrote:Reduction in health after using some form of drug to boost performance is usually expected, but reduction in armour? What, is it some corrosive substance that burns holes in your underpants but not your veins?
As an alternative to a negative aftereffect, perhaps more reduced stamina, sprint speed, reload time, etc.
Well techinically since we don't have "health" we have shield and armour armour seemed to be more appropriate since shields auto regenerate while armour doesn't unless you have a repper on you. As for the reduction in armour it's more a reduction in efficiency since your body is now spent and addled from using the drug that now it doesn't do it's job as well. Example being even if you're wearing full plate it'd be less effective if you were slouching leaving large gaps in between the joints. Hope that sort of clarifies what I mean. |

Yeah I read that before I posted this. But my idea is a all or nothing sort of deal. Something you'd use out of desperation rather than something you could use just because you could. |
