Borone enhanced napalm grenade Makes thick black smoke, smoke is highly toxic(not that it matters in suits) and sticky(particles cling to you if you pass through it). Borane boosted fuels(zip fuels) have about 40% more energy, so fire would be hotter then regular naplam. The particularities clog and damage machinery, so a 'poison cloud' that would work on drop suits. Abandoned 1950's tech, but sounds sci-fi enough.
wiki quote explaining mechanical damage better then I could.
Quote:Additionally, the fuels burn to create solids that are both "sticky" and corrosive. In particular, boron oxides are chemically reactive (and thus toxic), and boron carbide is mechanically "sharp". This caused serious problems for turbine blades in jet engines, where the exhaust built up on the blades and reduced their effectiveness and sometimes caused catastrophic failure of the engine.[5][6] Finally, the exhaust plume is filled with particulates, like coal smoke, allowing an aircraft to be spotted visually at long range.
Chain grenade I think the suit system would cancel out most of a flash bangs effect. But mass driver shots moving the aim could fill roll. So, a grenade that makes chain of weak blasts at 1 second intervals. A standard could have same radius as locus but only do 69 damage in chain of 4 blasts, so damage is reduced to 276 from the 400 of the locus. Variants could have the blasts closer for more distraction or further apart for more persistence.
Sticky grenade non-homing av grenade that sticks to what it hits, has same time delay as locus. Splash damage increased so it has secondary anti-infantry role, but much worse then locus. If it hits drop suit it sticks, but causes prompt to hit O to remove grenade. Could also have a flux variant.
Rubber grenade Same as locus but bounces a lot more. harder to place in a exact spot, but can be used to make trick shots into hard to reach areas. should be thrown straight from aim point instead of fixed angle. Could also have a flux variant.
Sensor grenade Been in few movies, and U.S. is developing 40mm fired version. It could have it's own sensor precision and radius from where it lands, but only last 30 seconds.

Eve Shields take more damage from thermal then armour does, so wouldn't a incendiary grenade do more shield then armour?
I had thought the active scanner was to be hand held, I was suggesting a short lived thrown variant. The post Moonracer2000 made about healing grenades sounded like similar variant of triage nanohive. Longer throw, less nanites, different slot, works on both teams, disappears right away instead of laying on ground.
The miasma grenades spotted from eve side do sound like they would fill the smoke/chaff roll.
Do you have a suggestion on where to look for info on coming grenades, other then miasma and web? Info on future additions is always fun to read about. |
