EvE uses a similar system. If I remember right, The Goons came a few years after launch, and few years later toppled the biggest power bloc in game.

So, in a fps were skill matters more then eve the skill point gap should be easier to overcome then eve, where it can be done.

It is not a level based rpg progression, like a mmorpg or borderlands. In those co-op is useless with a level gap, in eve a 3million sp character can compete in corp battle alongside 50+million sp team mates and contribute.

Somebody totaled up skills in game now and it was over 70 million sp worth. Proto suits only need a little over 2.4 million sp. We will eventually have more many skills, racial variants will need different skills. So, caldari assault suits, gallente assault suits, minmatar assault suits, and amarr assault will all be different skills. It would not take much for ccp to double or triple the amount of sp needed to max the skill tree, there is alot they haven't showed us yet.

The seven years at launch sounds very possible. We don't have social, leadership, science, industry or trade skill tree yet, when they add industry(crafting) and trade(player market) it could add a few years of skills to train. These could be mostly ignored by a combat character, or be the focus of a player that like tycoon games and rarely deploys to battle.

There's no incentive to play, your going to lose a lot of players when this releases if you let it go this low, ever.
Console gamers that like shooters will not stay with the game if it's so slow paced to get anything. You should just set the SP to like 5000 SP per 1000 WP and keep it that way, then you won't lose peoples interest so easily.
