I've been playing since June and only until recently have been reading around that whenever you put on a shield extender/recharger it raises your scan profile so it's easier for the enemy to detect you. When did this come into effect and how do we know that this is the case?
I really never heard of this until very recently. Is this confirmed by CCP?
Thanks for the help. |

This has been the suggested drawback for using shields, I haven't sat down to check it out yet though, football day after all.
It would make sense though as well considering shields are energy fields and our sensors pick up energy fields.
The other suggested nerf for shields to put them on par with armor's drawbacks was the possibility of bleed though damage, When shields are weak damage can leak though into armor.
Armor currently has two drawbacks, increases mass (which kills max speed and velocity/agility) and it burns when low health.
The burn only applies to vehicles though.
However the shield bleed though may be too much to ask for. after all flux grenades and EMP strikes wipe shields out. |

I still think that it's not enough of a drawback. I'd toss extenders on just to funnel enemies my direction. I think the drawback should be either slight damage reduction or an increased hit box size relative to the extra shield size and amount of shield remaining. Sort of like a bubble that shrinks as you hit it. |

that could interesting; the only problem would be do you derive the size of the bubble from the shield amount exclusively or from the suit too ? Also do you increase in a circle extending from the center mass; or do you just make the shield push ourtfurther infront of the person so keep the same hitbox ?

Ah ok, so it's just been a suggestion by the community and not actually implemented (if ever). I was wondering when I could put a shield extender on my sniper class without having a scan profile penalty attached to it. |

I thought this was fact already >.>. Makes sense. *Shrugs*. Would also be a big drawback and make for some "order" in how people set up their suits? You don't throw a load of shield extenders onto a mobile dropsuit that will be going into enemy territory alone, in other words a frontline scout. |

Do armor based ships burn in EVE?
I don't think armor should burn in low health

Well apparently it's just a "suggestion" that CCP incorporate something like it. Hasn't happened yet! (or if it ever will - I hope not) |

You think that's air you're breathing? |

Actually ships do burn, but not until you hit hull because a ship does have air inside of it. What streams out is fire from oxygen from the ship burning+ whatever is burnable. What would burn is not the armor, but the fluids and lubricants. So, technically speaking all vehicles should catch fire at a certain amount of lowered points. |

The only and easiest solution is just to add weapons which do extra damage to shields and less to armor at all range niches, rather than just laser rifles. The metagame will shift around and whatnot, and it'll keep relatively balanced. That's how Eve does it. |
