How to play in Skirmish. First let's start with those that are with a squad.
1.Have a line up of infantry during battle such as: 2 Assaults 1 Heavy and 1 Logi, Or 2 Logi's an Assault and Heavy or 2 Assault and 2 Logies ect.
2. If it is the beginning of the match, Hack fast! Try and use a Scout (If you have one) To run around and hack everything in sight.
3. Try to earn WP When you earn enough WP you can call down an Orbital Strike which wipes out all enemies in the specific area. Once they are wiped out, It is clear for you guys to take over whatever you are pushing for.
4. Watch ALL sides. While hacking, Crouch down that way if there is a Sniper, it would be harder to hit you, and if your getting shot at, Stop hacking and look for cover and return fire!
Now for the Solo Part.
1.When rolling along try and make sure you at least have teammates around.
2.Help Hack the objectives so you can earn WP and ISK.
3. Try to be of help for your team and give support.
4. If your a heavy, Try to go in front of your teammates to take a couple of bullets for them and they will handle the rest.

Here's my version of "what you want" as far as midgame
-1 or 2 scout snipers with mics giving overwatch (letting everyone know where the enemy is, what they are, and where they're going)
-1 or 2 shotgun scouts going to capture unoccupied NULL cannons/installations called by the sniper/s
-Half of the remaining people harassing the largest concentration of enemy
-The other half of the remaining people divided between defending currently captured NULL cannons
*If all the NULL cannons are taken by the enemy, these people will become part of the clump to try forcing their way into an objective

And for all the Variety Type Clones* out there. Take McBObs words to heart. If your team doesn't have a Scout that's going around hacking Installations and NULL Cannons then have a fit ready to take up that mantle. Every Installation is 50 WP and every successfully hacked Objective is 100 WP. At first the enemy team is going to try to move from Objective to Objective that they don't have along with the rest of their team (Strength in Numbers) and will move somewhat slowly.
If you can tell where they are and where they are heading you should also be able to tell where they ARE NOT and where they ARE NOT heading. That's where you want to be. Away from them, hacking their Objectives while they're busy focusing on your team. Before they know it you'll have taken everything from them.
But be warned. Eventually they will catch on to what your doing, and when that happens expect to find 1-3 enemies waiting for you at an enemy objective. If you have a profile dampener and can avoid detection your enemies will become confused and ill-informed and may start to defend objectives that don't need defending. If 1-3 enemies stay behind to guard an objective then that means your main Team has 1-3 enemies less to deal with.
It's a very viable strategy. If your good enough with a Shotgun then you can also easily defend yourself while taking objectives.
*Variety Type Clone - Opposite of a Specialized Clone, Variety types use multiple different Dropsuits and Dropsuit configurations so that they can adapt to every situation presented to them whether it be Anti-Vehicle or Sniping.
