There should totally be some kind of tournament where only militia dropsuits, modules, and vehicles can be used. This could be a great way for CCP to test out limitations on gear in matches, for potential contract options or something like that? So you could set up a friendly corp match where no gear is on the line, but the system ensures that any fit that doesn't follow the match parameters is flagged as invalid during that match. On the flip side, you could set a contract where only high end gear could be used, raising the stakes on both sides. |

Hey Imperfects, if I'm in a match, and I cost you 500k-1mil ISK in militia/standard gear, yet still go negative, then I'm the real winner. |

Cleared up the thread.
Please stay on topic guys. The thread isn't about boosting how good you are or not, but about a specific idea from the OP. |

Moral victories. That sure will get you contracts after go live.
here is your sales pitch "I use milita gear and will cost the other team millions of isk while I fail to defend/take the district you hired me too"

I've been discussing this sort of corp match for a little while now. It would be a matter of honor for the corps to show off their skill rather than ISK power. Problem is that with current set ups there's no way to tell if someone is using non-militia gear - of course you could easily see if someone is using more than militia suits or weapons or vehicles but there's no way to tell if they're using proto modules as well. Of course, the PG/CPU on militia suits and vehicles is severely limiting but smart fitters could still soup them up a fair bit.
So, yeah, CCP should add a way to set limitations on gear for corp/contract matches. |

There should be pub games which are restricted too. Not just a tournament.

Even though this might be slightly balanced, if someone has proficiency level 5 in Assault rifles, it would be very similar to using proto weapons with that proficiency.
That's the only flaw I see with this idea.
Dropsuits would apply to this as well. |

In a couple of months when contracts actually go live, I'll take out my pool of 100 mil ISK. Until then, I'm just testing. |

This does sound like a great idea. But as stated, skills affect a lot of in game stats.
It could be interesting if the match area somehow temporarily removed all passive skill effects so people like me with millions of SP don't have more armor, shielding, movement/weapon capability and such. |

What I said before (other parts of the post were removed)- This tournament should also somehow take away the effects of skillbooks. |

I personally would not want to limit my special corp matches by removing skill buffs. That is something that people have earned through experience and is still representative of their 'skill'. But I can understand other people wanting to take everything right back to the base level stats, so think it should be one of the options available when setting up this kind of match. In fact options should include settings for all levels, so you could have a limit up to advanced or T4 or whatever you want. Everyone likes options right? |

I like this idea a lot. A training ground and a true test of skill. Where casual players or noobs can go against the seasoned players on a level playing field without all their OP gear. But then those guys probably won't join these matches because they won't have their advantage they have invested 10x - 100x the number of hours that normal players have time for. Did that smell like a challenge? |
