It's possible they've got a planned medium air vehicle (gunship?) that hasn't been added yet, and figured they'll give us a full small/medium/large range for both vehicle types just to cover their bases.

dropships are medium. We're pretty sure fighters will be light, while gunships will be heavy. Nobody is really sure about bombers.

So that explains it.

We have a medium air vehicle. We have light and heavy land vehicles. It's logical to include the unused options for if and when those other vehicle types are created.

If you notice, there's a "Medium sized vehicle" icon. I'm just assuming that we don't have these vehicles yet in the game and will come with the open beta or full game release. On a side note, what kind of vehicles do you think they might be?

It indicates different symbols for both medium sized vehicles and medium sized dropships.
