So in the match I just played, I've narrowed down the cause of this problem to one of 3 possibilities:
1. Shotgun hit detection has changed in some way, making what I THOUGHT were accurate shots miss.
2. I'm not functioning properly because I've been overheating the past few days and it's had a negative impact on my sleep patterns (this is the most likely option)
3. Leaving Skype running in the background while on ADSL2+ causes lag (more likely than option 1, but not as likely as option 2, I can run Yahoo Messenger just fine with most games) |

Happens on every shotgun tier (militia - proto), but it seems to be a problem with the same users every match -- I could throw some unshotgunable names from yesterday, but will not. I tried to get these guys more than two times, every time same result -- shots not registering despite shields flash. Killed some other people from their team just fine, but at the end they went XX/0. (Same problem with sniper -- got a clean pot shot, guy lit up, no damage at all, turned around and ARed me.)
What happens with shotty: you run around the guy, get close (like 3-4m) and start pumping at his head/chest while getting closer, you can reach out and touch him when you're at your 3rd and 4th shot, all of them make him light up like a christmas tree (full hit at point blank range, duh) but only the last shot registers, and barely scratches him. At this point guy is killing you f2f with his H/L/S whatever. Sometimes they turn around quicker and do this funny sidestepping thing -- you get 3-4 shots to connect on your console, but no damage is done -- hitbox glitching?
My ping to the battle server is <=48ms, everything runs smooth. Just no damage from shotty.
Like I said -- mostly happens for the same group of players each match, go figure.
May be related: sometime you let go a round (and even maime/kill with it) but you can't reload -- discharged shell does not register -- 8 shells remain. Until you fire up another one -- then you're magically at 6 shots left. Still happens this build. And on this, I've seen similar, but the targets have yet to be COMPLETELY immune, and I usually seem to be almost as tough for them to hit if I'm moving at all - it's only when I stand still that I'll be taking hits from someone I can't damage. Of course, they sometimes don't need to be moving to be almost invulnerable against me, so it still feels a bit unfair. |
