Ok so much for ARs... Mass Drivers are the new vanilla and they take ALOT of skill to use.
If you want to melt the map and people, just pick up one of these VERY HARD to use weapons. Proto Mass Driver inc.

I just watched the "better" players on here just run a full squad of proto mass drivers. They just spawned and started shooting. The range on those things is stupid good, and they do so much damage lmfao. Omg these kids make this game way too rich lmfao |

CCP gave us lemons, we made Mass lemonade. Four of us running around with EXO (Advanced) mass drivers, not in proto.... yet.

They are a complete joke and I hate them already, the guy doesnt even have to aim as long as you get in the splash radius your aim is thrown fifty feet off, the aim throw needs a nerf |

The thing is I still do not see alot of people using them even though the rate has gone up. I have about 9,500 kills and 2000 something deaths and has been a wonderful weapon that I am still learning to master. Yet I have almost never gone against another Mass Driver that knows what they are doing or who had the capacity to give a good challenge and normally when I see one they are usually not much of a threat. That all being said I am pretty satisfied where the Mass Driver is now and I don't think it needs a nerf or buff. |

Laser Rifles and Mass Drivers are THE weapons for this build. Snipers are useless on ambush cause of the small map layouts, AR's are crap at medium-long range and HMG's seem a bit odd. Well i stick with the viziam for now and hunt people from distance and make them look like idiots. |

I think most of the MD hate is coming from the "let's dance" school of gun fighting.
It's hard to dance when your partner keeps stepping on your feet no mater how nimble you are.
You just can't dance around a MD in the open and you can't waltz up to them and allow them to drop several rounds at your feet. Think like a shotgun scout and get in close where their slow RoF is a huge disadvantage. Or engage them at range from behind cover where you can duck and evade those slow moving projectiles. Slow Area of Effect weapons require different tactics to defeat than a rifle does.
MD's have plenty of weaknesses:
They are slow to fire They have a long flight time for any distance You have to master the arc to place rounds accurately at distance You need to accurately predict enemy movement at range or you will miss Everyone knows where you are. That huge smokey arc points right back to your location In extremely CQC you will blow yourself up

they dont take much skill to use but they take skill to be good with, i face off alot of MD with breach AR i think i run from Cyn's tho, depends on who using the MD and how many, fighting more than one MD is too much for me, because they can both hit you even if someone is blocking their shot, when fighting ARs there's the small comfort that the AR's cant always hit you because there in each others way which you dont have that comfort when fighting multiple MDs. |

That is quite annoying until you get lucky and nail them directly in the face. I don't know why everybody is panicking about them; a splash damage nerf down the line seems kind of inevitable. |

Really people who say they are OP probably wouldn't know how to use them effectively. The range though with the assault rifle is what really gets me, that and undershooting....and shields. |

Kaughst to be fair to you, you are one of the best MD users I have ever played against. You and Naglfar are prolly the best people to use as examples as how to use a MD.
But now every scrub that can get a MD has gone and got one. Its absolutely ridiculous how many people use MDs now. And it is not the direct hits that keep killing me. Its the 4 rounds from 4 different clowns that hit. This has to stop.

if i can kill the MD within the first opening seconds of the fight, tank maybe 2 of their rounds, if i fail that window they get the upper hand it seems and their 3rd shot i'm in trouble their 4rth one tends to be lethal, if i survive the barrage i usually kill them during their reload unless their supported, imo looks good to me a battlefield should look like firey hell which is what the MDs do, do they really need to nerf the last explosive i hope not, an explosion should hurt and be somewhat scary, not just some novelty |

Just for the record, i called it prior to the patch being launched. Believe it or not, i do actually know what i'm talking about when it comes to balance, i've done this many times before.
MD's will get a radius and dmg nerf next and then laser rifles will be the flavour of the month till they get readdressed. |

The only nerfs MD's should get is dropping the clip size back to 4 while keeping max ammo at current build level. And reduce the effect on aim/off balance. DMG and splash damage is fine as is currently. (Maybe, maybe a nerf is warranted depending on the efficacy of proto gear for dmg isnt balanced by their relative cost)
For everyone that wants this to be just another circle strafe shooter get over it, get used to having to deal with different enemy and weapon types its just part of the territory. Know your role and play it, stop trying to be Rambo.
As for running up against teams of MD users, i made a post about this but noone like the idea, here it is and decide for yourself.

Based on all the positive reviews of the MD, I think I am going to play around with it tonight. Last time I used it was two builds ago, when it didn't work right.
I think it's pretty great the light weapon category covers so many things. AR's, LR's, and MD's. Makes it pretty easy to use already purchased skills for many weapon classes. |

I'm gonna stick to my guns and say stay at 4m and reduce the magazine. If I land all 4 shots on someone that would equal about 500-700 damage, but that takes 4 seconds. The 2 extra rounds are what will make it borderline OP, I've been saying that since the entire last build when people complained how useless it was.
On a side note, what's the DPS of the average AR? the DPS for the MD is 160ish for a good one, 250ish for a direct hit. |

I'll take these pro players playing with the MD over the last builds ARs. They go >20/1 when they use to go <25/0 with their ARs. But in truth the MD was fine the way it was with 4 rounds, wouldn't mind more capacity but 6 rounds are OP. The radius is fine around 4 but the 5% increase to radius might need to be 3%. |
