Hello, I'm glad ccp gave the laser rifles some thought in this build, however there could have been a few better changes.
1. The laser skill does hardly anything, with 3 levels in laser rifle I get 1 extra shot with the standard laser before it overheats, so with a full 5 levels I assume I'll get 2 - 3 more shots off before overheating.
For the record it overheats at 80 shots fired with level 3 laser. A larger increase would be appreciated, something along the lines of two extra shots per level would still feel balanced and allow for overheating.
2. My beautiful elm-7 is almost pointless now, I have in fact dropped down to using laser rifle (standard) as it is 1/3 of the cost. The only difference between the standard and the advanced elm is 4 shots extra fired before overheating, admittedly the last 4 shots are something along the lines of 200 damage but and this is a big but, I rarely get my kill at the end of the clip. Rather it is usually midway through the clip making the extra damage from the elm almost irrelevant.
3. The ADS has been changed and it is a lot clearer and easier to shoot which is nice. It does seem that when in zoom mode the sensitivity is a lot lower than what it used to be but that is okay.
4. Optimal, please please ccp don't make the light sharpshooter skill push the minimum optimal range further out! IF you don't want us to have a shorter minimum optimal range can you please hardcode it to the value that it is for sharpshooter level 0. I hope this is an oversight and not by design as it seems rather strange.

When does the Standard laser overheat for you? mine usually hits 16 left in battery when it overheats, and it also seems like overheats do more damage.

3rd paragraph has your answer :) but it overheats at 20 shots left in the clip with laser level 3 and elm overheats at 16 shots left in clip.
I'm not sure if the overheats do more damage or is it the same, it is about 120 hp damage each time though. |

Yep, I find the Elm-7 merely a brand name rather than an effective weapon now. And i haven't noticed much of a difference between it and the Viziam like i did in the first build.
As far as range, i agree - i think, pushing the minimum range out ruins it for lazer rifles that get more bonus the further the person is away from that minimum optimal. |

The difference between the standard-proto laser is night and day cause of the additional 5HP extra which have a huge effect when that thing gets temperature. I can aswell confirm that the laser rifle skill does nothing cause my standard laser overheats aswell exactly at 20 rounds left over. Maybe CCP did a typo and switched the actual use off the skills. Cause the operation skill should reduce heat up and proficency reduces cooldown. Im gonna give the proficency a go some time cause i didnt saw a need for faster cooldowns. |

i think it was overheating somewhere around 16 for me, but it still burns nerds great. only worth the extra price in very specific scenarios for me in any case.

Just a little side note I thought of. Elm-7 appears not to be in the loot table unlike all the other weapon advance counterparts so adding that would be nice.
Also the randomness needs a little bit of tweak, new seeds please. |

The difference in meta level should effect optimals really and overheating.
I'd be all for having them the same damage so it's a high damage, hi precision weapon right out the box but allow more advanced versions to have a larger mag, take longer to overheat and improve optimals. |
