So, was just in a very bad losing redlined match on manus peak. In my frustration I was rather vocal about the poor effort of my teammates, one of whom appeared to just be sitting behind the base doing nothing. Shortly after, that guy got on his mic and argued with me about the effect of his contribution saying that he was shooting at and hitting and damaging the enemy MCC. He claimed that he had been playing the entire beta and knew for a fact that this had an effect and that you get SP in proportion to the damage done during a match and not solely based upon your WP.
Unfortunately I no longer have the guy's name because the watch list doesn't work properly, so if it was you and you're reading this - please come explain yourself because I'm fairly certain you're wrong (and in any case it's still very poor teammanship and your 6-1 still lost to my 0-6 on the WP board because I was actually trying to cap stuff and killing vehicles).
For anyone else reading this - can someone with authority or experience please confirm or deny this assertion?
I don't know what weapon he was using but surely nothing short of a large railgun could reach the enemy MCC from your base.
Also, can anyone confirm or deny that SP earned is increased by damage done, even if that damage doesn't ever actually kill or destroy anything? |

Yes, but its health is like 5 million in DUST terms, so it's pointless. |

I started messing around with the forge gun this afternoon. Whenever my would-be victim buggered off behind cover and no other targets presented themselves, I would lob the round at their MCC. I very much doubt it did anything. |

You know - if you sprint whilst charging the FG, it cancels the charge. |

You cant damage the MCC by yourself not even with vehicles. There is a reason why the game tells you that you have a efficency rating of 0% against the MCC regardless of the weapon or turret you use. The only thing that will damage the MCC is fire from the other MCC and null canons. However you eventually would be aible to repair your MCC with remote repair modules on a dropship. But that option has beeing eliminated due to the low flight ceiling which doesnt allow you to fly above the MCC to do this. I dont know why CCP took this feature away cause i found it pretty nice and the light effects could be seen from any point off the map. I miss my yellow glowing MCC |

When I see people shooting at it I suspect they are new to the game the way New York tourists look up at skyscrapers. |

I can't remember how this build treats mcc dmg. In the past we could dmg it on shields or armor and get dmg points for it. Then they changed it to where you would only get dmg points when it was in armor and couldn't hurt it in shields. Then they got rid of the partial dmg wp's, so it became speculative if you were actually damaging it at all. Then the hud thing came around which shows zero % efficiency. I think what ppl say now is that you can still dmg it when it is in armor, but it has so much armor that it is really pointless. It's the first time i've ever heard about using it to do lots of dmg and thus more isk or sp. I don't think it works like that. with getting no wp's, then there is no effect on sp/isk. |

back in the e3 build and earlier it was possible, but not any more, even then it was only large turrets that did any damage.
Back then, we tried lineing up a while bunch of marauders with rail guns, back then the marauder had 40% more damage built in, and alpha striked the attacking MCC and it did do noticeable damage. |

Before this build if you got in a turret you used to get points every now and again whilst shooting the mcc, as for this build couldn't say as I haven't played for quite some time. |

A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away (when there was only one MCC in a skirmish match) you could use a Surya tank outfitted with the biggest and baddest Railgun and Damage Modifiers to lay siege on the MCC.
Two or three of these used in tangent with the turrets could make short work of the MCC as a last ditch defense with points given for each hit.
Not sure about recently though. |

I was in a couple of matches back in the build that had the Communications and Biomass maps where there were people on the ground in large railguns and missile turrets that spammed shots on it the entire match, and actually blew it up.Those days are long gone now.
You can no longer damage the MCC from the ground, nor gain any SP from hitting it.I've tried on more than a few occasions to no avail. |
