Hey I went 8 / 1 running logi with exo md in an ambush! They are actually really good weapons. The problem is mainly the low ammo count and the low clip size.
They are not meant as a direct fire weapon like the AR. Taking anyone on 1 v 1 with just the massdriver is difficult and its user is at a disadvantage.
You just have to change your play style to make them useful! |

Agreed. This weapon takes some skill to use. At least I've stopped blowing myself up with it and can rack up some good kills with it. |

Using the prototype version of a gun and doing well with it does not mean that weapon is good in general. Not picking a side right now, but just making a point. |

I only use the advance ones, only prototype weapon I occasionally use is the grimlock forge. People have claimed the standard md isn't up to the task and I can't comment on that as I haven't used it. However I find the advance one (exo) adequate for the job. |

The mass driver is fine. It's not meant to be a solo killing weapon, even though it can be used that way. It's meant to suppress a large area, giving your team time to move, or as a support weapon, knocking around enemies while your allies finish them off. |

It felt very weak to me against anybody that wasn't in a very low level fit. I think it's a combination of standard level damage with not much of a radius boost from SP investment. It might be good when you're maxed out on your skills and fit, but with the bare minimum, it has a lot of trouble. Advanced feels quite a bit better, but still has trouble vs heavily shield-tanked suits. |

This ^^
The MD has the massive potential to be OP if they buff it too much. Right now it's perfect as a support weapon.
It's good enough to solo militia and advanced suits but if you run into anything advanced or proto you're gonna need to hit them with a flux grenade first. |

Agreed.
High shield buffer poses a problem, but there are ways around that. |

One of the reasons for that is that it deals explosive damage which is really weak against shields whilst through armour. |
