The names of our weapons need to change in my opinion.
For example.
The Forge Gun. With the upcoming Plasma Cannon they need to be put under one group called Heavy AV.
The Assault Rifle. The scrambler rifle may be an assault rifle so the other rifle needs to be changed to Plasma Rifle or something.
The Sniper Rifle. I assume there will be other racial variants so the sniper rifle should be a group name and the rifles in it should have separate names.
Basically we cant have on the market and in the skill page a separate page for every weapon.
What i am thinking.
Assault Rifles: plasma rifle, scrambler rifle, etc
Sidearms: SMG, Scrambler pistol, flaylock pistol
Light AV: swarm launcher, etc.
Heavy AV: Forge Gun, Plasma Launcher
Heavy Anti-infantry: Machine Gun,
This is basically the idea. As new weapons are added i think there will be an increasing problem with conflicting names and weapon groups. |

Maybe keep the names and have the market list them different.
Have weapons tab then have tabs for sidearm, light, heavy, and grenade. Then have for example light weapon give option of rifle or support weapon. Rifle would list light assault rifle, scrambler rifle, laser rifle and sniper rifle. The support would have the mass driver, swarm, and shotgun. |

Yeah but there will be different sniper rifles for each race for example. Why would the caldari one be called sniper rifle and the others something else? Sniper rifle should be a group name and call the caldari variant something else |

I've been thinking this exact same thing. CCP needs to start thinking and organizing along types with racial variants. |

i vote that the mass driver, swarm launcher be placed in a different category of weapons. they should get skill boosts for speed and explosive damage and area.
instead of the normal light weapon slots. |

Some things are a bit generic the current assult rifle is more a plasma rifle maybe if we do it in the way eve does have with a general menue with a list of weapon types some thing like this format
AR-
Hybrid
-Plasma Rifle
-Guass rifle(Coil gun maybe?)
Energy
-Scrambler rifle
Projectile
-Ummmm Assult rifle
- Carbine
Missile
-I have no idea
Battle Rifles(different weapon catagory)
Again this would be stuff like the tactical rifle and the laser rifle |

My little brother gets really OCD about the assault rifle just being called assault rifle, he would support this thread. |

The only issue I could see running into with this idea is the skill requirements and how the weapons are organized on the market for ease of purchase based on the skill requirements. If you added more sub-categories would that not be more complicated to find what is actually required for the weapon of that type?
Just raising the question, I'm not necessarily against this. And I'm definitely for calling weapons by names other than those of a generic base i.e Assault rifle.

Yeah I don't like how it's just called Assault rifle either. Call it GLB-V7 or whatever it is.
I was thinking about this myself, and I totally agree going forward. |
