Fixing sniping fixes this problem. With bullet drop, bullet travel time, and scope sway, hitting targets at max range would be relatively difficult. Snipers who want to get kills would be encouraged, then, to move closer to the action, as they'd be more likely to hit targets than at longer ranges.
And so, redline sniping is greatly mitigated without any ham-fisted measures like forcing people out of the area after X period of time or auto-killing people who stay there too long. After all, the redline exists to prevent spawn camping. You can't force people to leave the redline when they're being spawn camped, as it'd defeat the entire purpose of the redline in the first place. |

It could be justified that your contract only applies to activity within the 'burn zone'
The issue is still that the red line is there to prevent spawn camping. If you lose all your points, it's what keeps you from being totally overrun. Removing all WP/kill gain for people being redlined camped doesn't sound like a very good thing to include in the game. They're already being redlined, and now they don't even get any WP for whatever kills they manage to get? Would that be a positive contribution to the game? |

We aren't mercenaries, we're dudes playing a game looking to have a fun time. Losing isn't fun. Losing so badly you're redlined is even worse. Getting redlined and not even getting credit for your kills anymore? Why? What's the point of making losing terribly even worse? If CCP wants to make losing all points so bad, they should do the Battlefield routine and just make it so the game ends in a matter of seconds thereafter.
Redline sniping isn't cool, but there are solutions to it that don't involve such ham-fisted stuff as no credit for kills when redlined. |
