It was already suggested : Low Sec / High Sec Zones
i think , that entering this zones shouldnt get you killed whitin 20 secs but to give you a armor / shields reduction AKA life penalty this means the deeper you go into the red zone the easier youre to kill
this will avoid being redlined by enemies and wouldnt be OP because you would be easier to kill |

The best solution against being redlined is to regroup and go all-out. Running 1 after the other in the direction of an overkill firesquat is useless and will get you nowhere. Go all-out in a strategic manner after regrouping and you could turn the tide of the battle in 1 clean swoop.
Send out 1 or 2 recon units (sacrificial lambs/ scouts) to measure the actual force and pinpoint highest thread targets, send your main force after them, the rest kills of the infantry. Have a 2 or 3 people switch to sniper and start cleaning. Get AV is HAV's are involved. If LAVS/HAVS are available get them out and use hem for the initial push. (also perfect for moving cover).
Such scenarios can't be that hard to come up with.... and yet is seems most people just give up and start crying in the corner...
highsec/lowsec will be totally counterproductive since people will only 'hide' deeper in the redzone and make such pushes even less likely to happen.

Yet when would the developers stop generating a map? That's the whole point of map boundaries in video games; to stop developing a level. |

I've found that getting redlined is only really a problem when either my team is full of blueberries, or it is a terribly made map. In line harvest, you're screwed because of how vulnerable the redzone is to snipers, forge guns, and railguns. I learned this against the imperfects, because we were literally getting sniped the second we spawned on either side. Once I was in a shelter and they still somehow sniped me!
Anyway, as far as blueberries, it's insanely annoying when I fit a super-fast fitted LAV with a mCRU, speed through the line of spawnkillers, then only 1 or 2 people ever actually spawn on the LAV when I'm sitting in a clear area. |

I always though about remove the redline and have the mcc shoot at anyone who gets to close :-P that way it's more of a soft barrier and gives the mcc a strong fealty in the game :-) |

Really Bassemeant?
Redlining is an issue, and the suggestions as far a grouping up, alternate travel routes, mics, and vehicles are all valid I would propose that the area where you do spawn be inaccessible to enemy gunfire because then there really is no chance to turn things around.
I'm sure that this is where the Command position will come into play by calling down strikes, turrets, and other things to better help the team succeed, or at least put up a better fight to the other players. Still, sometimes the skill gap and luck make a game where there is no chance of success... break out a militia build and a suicide vest - can't wait for these. |

What a laugh. If your team were capable of that kind of coordination in the first place, you wouldn't be redlined. Jesus, let's get serious for a second here, guys.
The solution to being redlined is the solution you see in the Battlefield franchise. End the game within about 30 seconds of the last cap being taken from you. Make the null cannons go into overdrive and whittle your MCC apart with a quickness. If your team is so outmatched you get pushed back to your spawn, then the game is over. You will not regroup, like General Patton up there imagines you will, and the remainder of the game will be a ****** experience where you get farmed with tanks and sit around thinking about the other things you could be doing which are more fun than playing Dust. |

not really puttin random grps together in the same game regardless of skill lvl of the individual dont mean they will mesh as a team

this works as well. easily becoming one of my fav posters Fivetimes :P game should end within 2mins of losing all objectives. should at least give the redlined team 1 last counter push which if they fail game over

Putting people together from the same skill level will still stop the frequency of redlining though.
Changes to the redline itself need to be made as well. It doesn't make sense and it gives a safe place for people to camp with things like snipers, tanks, forge guns and swarm launchers, with little to no threat to themselves even though they can still earn many points.

Take 4 squad players (one with dropuplinks, gauged is prefer for having 2 active) Call a "garbage" dropship (150000 the cheapest) Climb in, fly under cover and go on the back of the ennemies All abandon the dropship, put your drops, and try to survive.
This will make move the ennemies, and could open your own redline for bluedots (if they decide to take off their sniper rifles...)
Last time we did this, there were 4 ennemy tanks : no one survived |

I remember there were 4 tanks... But yes, it is a one shot chance.
I took off from A-B spawn (Minus Peak) If you fly under radar on the left side, you can easily go backside without fear.. Same on B-C side, but on the right... Harder to preperly drop on this side.... Easier on the other one. |

Hmphf. I've tried that more than once, but the "escape" routes are usually covered by snipers, LAVs or, worst of all, turrets and HAVs.
Heck, I just got out of a match where all of the blue dots were trapped at the sole remaining spawn point, which was pretty much open to all of the above.
I got killed more than once trying to establish an uplink some distance from the spawn point. Even worse, the one time I succeeded, nobody on my team used the damn thing, and the red dots managed to find its location and zap it.
Irritation, to say the least. Not to mention a crapload of wasted resources. |

"Really Bassemeant?"
yes... really. the current build is high sec. this IS ez mode. this crap goes away when you hit null sec, unless ccp is gonna change that up, too. so all the whinging and whining about it only apply if you guys plan on hiding in hi sec the same way you guys hid in suppression. y'know... too scared to hit domination, can't figure out sabotage, no way interdiction cuz that's too hard. remember any of that? i do. i gotta dollar says most of you set foot in null sec during the first week and the smoking wreckage of your avatar will get hammered so hard when you fall back, you'll land in lo sec and never return to null, ever.
if you plan on being in null sec, then this crap shouldn't apply at all. there should be no redline and no out of bounds in re the enemy homebase. you should not only be able to shoot into the enemy base... you should be able to travel into it. i'll say that twice: in null sec you should be able to walk INTO the enemy main base spawn area. if you get hammered back to the main base THAT bad, you deserve it and no the devs should NOT protect you from what you got coming... unless:
"1/6 votes to surrender accepted. 5 votes need. remember = surrender means a loss of your current loadout AND a loss of 100k isk."
you guys could always ask for that. that would fix your redline problems instantly.
the suggestions i made were the ONLY things that you can do to get out from under it, unless you are gonna beg the devs to hold your hand and keep you warm and safe and free from egocrushing defeat.

Why are you even talking about nullsec? That is a thing planned for an update sometime after Dust's initial release. It is at least a year away, probably closer to two years away. Who cares what they have planned for nullsec, at this point it doesn't exist, and it won't exist for anytime in the foreseeable future. |

I remember the first build's map, there didn't seem to be much redlining.
Give redlined teams a nuke to destroy redliners including vehicles. This would allow teams to push forward but they'd likely just be pushed back again.
Someone mentioned matchmaking and that's one way.
I hope CCP does something about the redlining in hi sec. At least it's still a Beta so hopefully they'll figure it out or it won't be fun for casual gamers.
As for redlining in null sec, everything goes. |
