Not everyone who plays can afford boosters, which increase the SP cap and the SP accrual rate. The argument here for this is that it only gives a temporary advantage since things will even out in the end after everyone's played long enough. However "in the end" is supposed to be years down the road. Which means people will be disadvantaged for longer than they may ever plan to be playing this game.
I would like to request alternate forms of boosters to allow people who don't have the money to pay $30 a month on boosters to be able to stay competitive while still allowing people to pay for a slight advantage. I suggest offering high priced ISK boosters. They do not speed up your accrual rate, but they raise your SP cap to the same level so that with enough effort you can still keep up SP wise with everyone else. Then you can offer the AUR SP boosters that you have now which raise the cap AND give you a higher accrual rate.
People who don't have the ISK or don't want to save the ISK for it will be disadvantaged and it will slow down the amount of high priced equipment fielded, but on the up side everyone can still have the opportunity to get the same amount of SP without having to basically pay a subscription to get it.

As for a booster that just increases your sp cap without the sp bonus... I think i like that idea as another booster option for aur, which then can be bought and put on the market for isk. True, but until the secondhand market is fully functional and the game picks up properly, this will be very difficult to do. If the game goes live without a fully functioning market this can be an issue, not to mention very few are going to have the ISK right out of the gate for these, which means those without will be left out of the loop while those paying cash can fly ahead of the rest of the pack.
All I want out of this game is for it to be pay to win as little as possible, and doing what I laid out above would really help things go in that direction. At least until the second hand market is fully active. |

Sentient Archon wrote:While its true that not everyone would want to spend money on boosters, it is actually the best investment you can make. If you buy the merc pack which is $20 in the US market, you get an active 30 day booster along with 40000 AUR. With 28000 AUR you can buy 4 7 day passive boosters which will last you for a month. So for $20 you are pretty much getting the advantage all AUR buyers have. And makin $20 bucks a month is easy. All you have do is flip burgers at Macs for 3 hours or mow your neighbors lawn for $20 bucks. Easy money. And it would be good for ya. Heck I pay the kids my community $20 bucks an hour to clean my pool . Just my 0.02 Merc PackGäó Making 20 bucks is easy, but having a family or working a minimum wage job and paying massive bills makes having 20 EXTRA dollars to spend on a fictional universe much more difficult. Everyone's financial situation is different, and this would help keep things even. |

I'm not so well off myself, so the financial end of things is always at the front of my mind. |

All of you have valid points, but the fact remains that this would help support those who wish to play the game AUR free while still giving an incentive to buying AUR.
Thank you to those who support this idea. |
