To be blunt, are TERRIBLE.
First, I'll say that I have small hybrid turret proficiency II, and therefor can fit any small railgun.
The first thing you might notice about small railguns is the horrible damage. A 3-shot burst from a prototype small railgun (after charging and before having to cool down) deals roughly the same amount of damage as a standard forge gun; the forge gun also has far more range and costs MUCH less, with less SP needed.
Another thing I noticed about the damage is that a prototype small blaster takes about the same amount of time as the prototype small railgun to destroy a starter fit LAV, if not faster. This isn't saying the blaster destroys them really quickly- this is saying that the railgun destroys them painfully slowly.
Fighting any vehicle tougher than militia is also completely hopeless- they'll repair armor/shields faster than you can cut through them.
On the bright side, they can OHK infantry (which they aren't meant to do)
I suggest giving them a huge damage buff- at least enough give them the same DPS as their forge gun equivalent. Range is less of a problem, as long as we get some kind of skill or module to boost turret range. |

Railguns should be a legitimate AV option. As they are, they have 0 uses. |

well on the plus side nearly all the standard variants can OHK anything smaller than a heavy . GL getting the hit. |

even after the heavy missile nerf the missile turret is still the best option for small turrets because the other 2 are just so god awful.
a dude with an AR in an EZchair is a better option than any of the other turrets. |
