I think everything you want already exists its called Second Life and PS Home. Also mini games usually ruin a game completely and get blasted by critics for useless or time not well spent in development of a game. A video game should not be your alternative to a vacation , planet earth is vast and filled with bars and clubs to meet earth ladies and doesn't take computer coding that can be used to improve the battlefield. |

basketball on the moon is not a mini game???
hitting space station bar and clubs and hitting on space ladies is not PS Home and Second life???
You can talk to you friends in dust right now and im sure you have a smart phone?
How much processing will it take for you to go on a joy ride with 3 people and maintain processing a huge battle??? at least if were in the same battle processing and information can be split between the players and server like a torrent.
What you are saying is so far from being able to be done , like 20 years. A post like this will just end in a crappy basketball mini game in Dust or a pointless bar like Mass Effect after the quests are done. Dreams are great but it really depends on what the main goal of the game is at the moment. since its in development. for this year |

usually all those shows are prediction on the basis that we update what we have now , but in reality we tend to shift focus to something else.
examples:
the 50`s was a very gadget heavy era with washer machines, blenders, and coffee makers. So there prediction was more of a gadget world where you have multiple buttons.
Instead the focused changed to I want to use one device to do everything and only hit one button.
Right now they are predicting LCD everything , wall paper, tattoos , and clothes but the focus is starting to change to augmented reality that will do that and more.
In FPS player counts were the major prediction in the future of gaming in like 2005 with 56k modems but the focus shifted to making games look pretty instead and in 2012 player counts still hold steady at 32 players even though the tech is 10 times better.
focus should be mainly on the goal of today with a path to the future, not a need for it.

I think we need to agree to disagree at the moment on tech because we have different types of application to the same product basically.
Also Slywester that sounds great in a movie script and novel but im not sure how you could structure that in a game.
I think we have similar ideas because i thought about for some time an FPS that required first a space battle of destroying a orbital defensive position before you could begin fighting on a planet and if you failed to accomplished that you had to wait a certain amount time before you could re attack the planet. |
