Okay - so, ever since this new build came out I haven't played much. Actually, I've got maybe ten hours total since I realized that (apparently) I was just a horrible player who was only getting positive statistics because the previous builds were broken(?)
At any rate, here's my main issue with this game as of current.
A lot of the ideas and functioning gameplay mechanics that I -liked- were stripped from the game bit by bit. Old turrets kicked butt and new turrets sucks, scouts are paper thin, strafe speeds took a hit blah blah blah you've heard all of it before.
A lot of ideas I thought were cheeky, unnecessary and blatantly silly were introduced - most in the form of "hotfixes" that literally takes hatchets to anything rather than something a bit softer like, oh I dunno a bat. You can live through a baseball bat, you see.
So here we are with the main subject of this thread.
Risk - Why should I risk losing ISK, equipment and/or anything (for that matter)? Oh, the reward of course.
Reward - 15,000 sp and a few thousand isk simply doesn't cut it. Other players have vastly superior skills and equipment, leading to incredibly frustrating situations like having a guy take an entire magazine from an Assault Rifle just to turn around and pop you once or twice with a Pistol (nice job by the way, Imperfects - much as I hate you now for that silly pea shooter).
Entertainment - Dust 514 is a game. It's not a job. I work my arse off in Eve Online as a capsuleer and it's where I dedicate most of my time. I don't have the patience to try and hit my skill cap every week and literally -STRUGGLE- against players with superior skills/equipment who can pull some (rather unbelievable) moves that result in my isk, time and temperament being lost.
I'll say it right now, three months ago this game was awesome. Right now - it's WAY too team-work dependent. A one-on-one fight is sketchy and comes down to skills/equipment and a little bit (I use that loosely) of actual player skill. Two-on-one is nightmare mode and anymore than that results in the "well, I'm dead" comment.
This game -seriously- needs to appeal to the solo player a bit more and be a LOT more intuitive with the frustration-invoking changes that are being made. Frankly, I've established already that I'll be playing this game for the events and to try out the new features every six months. Past that, not going to even bother. |
