First and foremost, I have finally got into the DUST 514 beta which i have waited for since they announced it in E3 at 2009, so right now i am ecastatic, but what i did not accept from all my excitment and anticipation was that this game is going to be a challenge to get used to it. My first trouble- During my breif playthrough(getting longer play time the coming weekend) I picked the sniper dropsuit available in the defualt fitting, and well long story short I died before i could get a shot in. My question is which fitting should i pick from the dropsuit in order to give me a fighting chance? My second trouble- Since i had a short window to play this game i let the battlefinder choose my battles for me, and well i think it put me in Ambush not sure though, but my question is what gamemode should i pick to play so i can be effective and get used to this game quicker? And also should i let battlefinder find games for me or should i manually pick and choose? Any suggestion and reasons why, would be helpful My third dilemma- Well this problem is a Yes or No but in the other shooters that i have played COD, BF, etc, you can customize your controls to best fit you and I have found to like the BF3 controls the best. Since this game feels more like Battlefield 3 in terms of size, is there controls that are similar? Also while we are on controls can you change the sensitivity?
During my short session of DUST 514 i have: enjoyed it, become frustrated, and eager to play more. I cannot wait to experince more of what this game can offer and if you could answer the qestions above, it will make my transition and getting accustomed way easier. As i get more questions i will be sure to post them in here.

RECON BY FIRE wrote:I can only answer the first two questions. For now you should use the 4 starter fittings that are completely free to use. Theyre not great or perfect, but they work fairly well.....Hope this helps some. Your answer has tremendously helped, now i know that I should stop trying to use the sniper without getting accustomed to it yet, i just thought that it was a OHK. Also i will probably use Assualt and i don't know if CCP will add better sights like the one showed in 2009. Other than that can't wait. What I am asking in the third question is, can you change your sensitivity in Dust? I cannot stand that slow turning, it feels too weird for me, a player who is used to fast turn ons (not sexual but an opponent is shooting at your back and you just turn around and OHK him with the sniper. BAM TURNED ON).

The sniper can be a OHK on certain people especially if you add damage mods, but even the highest damage sniper rifle likely will never OHK a good heavy suit fit. Id honestly drop the sniper idea, theres always way too many of them in games as is and the sniper rifle in this game sounds to be very far from what you are looking for. You should add me (PSN name is same as DUST name,) if you have a mic we can talk and you can help me pick out the best type of dropsuit. If not a sniper i am looking to use a logistics type of dropsuit as not only does it look sexy, mean, and dangerous but it is also best of both worlds(ability to heal people and vehicles), what says team player more than any other dropsuit but a logistics suit. I am looking to fit that with an assualt rifle and see how i cope. Cannot wait for the weekend |

Free Healing wrote:Welcome aboard Bloody,
As far as i know, there is not a way to change the Control Schematic for Controllers. I for one, approve of the default controls but can understand that everyone has a preference. Also, there is a way to change Sensitivity in the options portion of the NEOCOM but it doesn't change how fast your character turns in any direction. Only how the game reacts to your moving the analog stick. Movement in all forms is controlled by the type of Dropsuit you use. It goes...
Scout > Assault > Logistics > Heavy = SALH (scout being the fastest)
I hope my huge wall of text helps.
Again, Welcome to DUST 514 and i look forward to saving you from the icy grip of death SOON.
Keep the faith. Do not worry, your so called huge wall of text has enlightened me and also the part that i quoted especially is a shocker for me, not being able to control how fast you turn. As i think more about it it starts to makes sense, a heavy dropsuit would be gunning everyone down as soon as he sees where he is taking damage from and it would not even be fair, but since it turns very slowly, now the scout can run circles around the heavy, shooting him and eventually killing him. Way to balance this game CCP, you surprise me yet again Kudos. |
