But didn't ccp state that Dust514 is only possible on the ps3 due to Sony's robust and free network capabilities? Last i checked this was a ps3 exclusive. And besides i though 360 fans called Dust514 a Halo rip off lol. As ridiculous as that sounds i'm surprised the hypocrite want this game so bad on the 360. Let's face it, it's not gonna happen. Unless M$ once again waves a hefty check in front of ccp
First of all, you're clearly going to jump on the "XBOX FANBOI" bandwaggon so i won't go into too much but it's pretty common knowledge by anyone with half a brain... No hang on.
Let's start at the begining... CCP start making Dust when as stated above, Unreal was the best engine around, dust's been in development for many, many years with that aside, look at how things was before sony allowed CCP on their network.
Microsoft, Nintendo AND Sony all had very strict standards about allowing people access to certain parts of their infrastructure. It's safe to say, that Sony changed the rules for CCP, everyone knows that right?...
The question is simply why did Sony make the change where MS and Ninty didnt?... It wasn't because of how amazing Dust is right now thats for sure, i bet it was even worse back then. I think it's safe to assume to Sony and CCP stuck a deal on platforms, Sony would agree to allow CCP access to their own servers and make the changes needed to their protocols on several conditions... Mainly that CCP makes Dust a PS3 exclusive.
You have to look at the bigger picture though and ask yourself why Sony wanted it as a PS3 exclusive. I expect it's because Dust was originally meant to be released this week, what else was recently released and Sony had a hand in? Planetside 2.
If Dust had not found a console to launch on or had not done well on any specific individual platform what would CCP have done? Gone back to their grass roots, the PC which would make Dust in direct competition with PS2. Sony and CCP wouldn't want that because they would be targetting the exact same players. It makes more sense for Sony to allow CCP access to their platform and support them as a "PS3 Exclusive" so that both companys get exactly what they want. CCP get's on console and gets a piece of that market, Sony gets to launch PS2 without any direct competition so it's win/win for everyone.
However it's worth noting that i very much doubt a company as ambitious as CCP is happy with just sitting on the PS3, we all know it's going to be very easy to download the game again on the PS4 because it's not even a DVD/Blu-ray based game, it's digital. But what about the longer goal? Once the PS3 exclusive deal has passed?
Everyone and their mother knows that it's difficult to make a profit on a game by a 3rd party company on a single platform, everything recently has gone multiplatform after awhile. Mass Effect 3 is a fantastic example of this.
I think it's safe to say that in the future CCP will be porting Dust to both Xbox and PC. PC is their spiritual home and it's where CCP will want Dust but it's also safe to assume that MS won't want to be left out of the party and will eventually make changes to allow something like Dust to happen. |

Then you're clearly not up to date on current events because the Xbox has one F2P game out right now and several more on the way, maybe you should do your homework before commenting?
MS has changed policy multiple times over the course of the 360 for individual games. Go google your homework then come back to the thread and we can discuss it like adults. |

Knightshade, try and troll all you like but you're not going to reply to want from me. When Dust is multiplatform and you're crying about it i'll be the one saying "told you so". |

Troll? lol, your the one who pretty much said I was a child trying to have an adult discussion. I never initiated a convo with you, you picked me... you saying I am wrong because of ONE f2p title that was JUST released. I did say in my reply to you that it may be a possibility, but it will be a few years before that can be realized and put into action.. unless MS going to pay sony for the breach of contract, and take sole rights to Dust.. because sony would hate on dust and not support them most likely anymore ever in future for breaching said contract. * and why the fk would I cry? It means more people to shoot, I would embrace it.. I was just stating what I know, heard, read and discussed for months now
And i didn't say it was going to happen over night did i? So whats the difference in you saying it may happen in several years time and me saying it will happen eventually? |

UE3 is just the most stable, most affordable and most accessible game engine out there; it was especially so at the onset of Dust's development. UE4 is also supposed to be a major upgrade of UE3. So it will be a better, shinier engine, all with easier port capabilities when PS4 comes out. Also, if CCP is considering bringing it to PC/Xbox, please don't, unless you can make any player from any system connect to a single battle and play with others with different systems. Otherwise, just forget segregating matches in New Eden according to system.
There's no way CCP will run multiple shards, that's one of the main selling points of DUST/EVE. |

Unless M$ once again waves a hefty check in front of ccp It won't go to Xbox, but it will eventually go to PC. It is just an obvious move. They already have keyboard/mouse support, all they need is for the base game to get stable so they can turn their attention toward making it work on PCs.
I disagree mate, one PLEX says that CCP will have Dust on a microsoft console before the end of the next console cycle. |

Maybe it'll be on the newer Xbox thing coming out whenever, but I imagine they're not going to be doing any ports before the PS4/etc drop. They'll barely have the game in working order and feature complete by the time the PS4 hits the shelves.

CCP have their own engine, it's called Carbon. Originally Dust was built using the Carbon engine on the PC, its what EVE runs on. |
