I LOVE to fly things. In any game I play that has a helicopter in it, I'm the guy flying it. Now Dust is not normal when it come to vehicles. In other games you just pick up and drive. In dust you have to fit them and buy them. My question is, Are they worth it? People are thrashing vehicles hard right now. Ether saying they suck or saying they are OP. I want to know if drop ships are really worth it or should i wait till they "fix" them. If they are worth it. How should i fit them. I don't care what role I play. Or how i do it. I just love flying. So help me out here guys. |

If you decide to fly them then good luck. I suggest you put a mobile CRU in it but besides that I wouldn't know how to fit them.
Note: you will not gain any wp doing so. Your gunners will kill nothing due to nerf of missles but that's a different thread all together. |

How about railguns? Are they effective? |

The way I see it right now, the dropship is exactly what it sounds like. Its job is to fly into action and drop off soldiers, then proceed to leave. I've flown them a bit and if properly fitted they can take 2-3 swarm launcher hits(not sure about railguns though I assume that it could survive as well). The most important thing to note is that a drop ship is useless as a mobile firing platform mainly due to swarm launchers being a nearly guaranteed hit and causing major instability to the ship and the terrible sustainability in prolonged fighting. The armor repairer(and I assume the shield repairer) has a hard reset of 30 seconds, meaning you will crash and respawn before it would help you again. The bottom line is that if you want to use it well, you will have to have a large corp to transport around the battle. You won't get many war points as the guns are less affective than the ones on the LAV, so no pilot bonus for kills. Now taking all that into mind, if you really want to fly, you need to have a reason to. |

At this point flying is fun, but to survive you will need to skill everything to the 9's (or 5's in dust). Your gear and dropship must be super protected right now.
Railguns on tanks = death to any vehicle Small railguns = annoy the big tanks
I have been building up my hybrid skills to see if an LAV armed with a proto railgun could kill off tanks or dropships - the range is still a limiting factor, but we will see. |
