I just recently found a crew to run with, with comms, and they're going to spec into logi which got me thinking about this. Don't feel like you're stealing... it was AGES ago. And even back then, I was building my idea from suggestions made by others. It was never really "my" idea in the first place, I was just one of the suggestions for how to make it work. |

I'm already provably insane (and have spent some years on medication for it), so I'm getting the right kind of help on that side of things.
Also, I think for repping, the sound you get is enough if they pair it with a directional indicator on the HUD. It's quiet, but you CAN hear a friendly Repair Tool working when you're close - whether you're the target or not. It's easier to pick when you know what to listen for (I do, because I run several Repair Tool fittings across my 3 characters).
I definitely think we need a better indication of what's happening and when in regards to Nano Injectors though. As much as the game did so many other things wrong, I have to mention Brink as a great example of EXACTLY how to do revival notifications. When there's ANYONE on your team who has the ability to revive you, they're marked on your HUD while you're down. The closest player with a revive ability also has their distance from you marked. If there's someone with the revive ability equipped, but without the necessary supplies (regenerating resource in Brink, used to power all your abilities), they show up in a different colour, and the nearest player with the ability AND the supplies to use it is also marked clearly with their distance shown on-screen. If they aren't in line of sight, the marker for the nearest capable medic is shown at the edge of the screen closest to where the player/bot is.
Probably the best equivalent for DUST would be to make the "Hold on - Triage Unit Detected" message come up with a second line that tells you the distance to the nearest Triage-capable teammate, and preferably also mark them on your HUD. If possible, this would (as it does in Brink when the player is close) also show the player's name. I'm quite a fan of the "personal healing feed" idea - when being repaired, you could get a private feed saying "Logi Bro (Repair Tool) Your Name" - in appropriately team-friendly colours.
P.S. i use caps for emphasis more than yelling. I go through a lot of different forums, several of which don't have formatting options to turn things bold or italicise them, so I've gotten used to not relying on such options. Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression with that. |
