IMHO The skirmish mode is currently not very dynamic and is easy for a team to be red lined. If we make it easier to take and lose objectives then the game should be more dynamic. The more objectives you team holds the harder it should be to defend them all. The less objectives your team holds the easier it should be to to take that 1st objective. The 2 things that have a big impact on dynamics of a round:
- duration of contested period
- duration of retaking a contested objective
If both of these times are reduced it would be easier for a red lined team to make a come back by spreading the winning teams forces thinner.
Quick turn around of an objective would force a team to defend the objective more rigorously instead of responding to hacked objectives. That is to say, if you want to hold all map objectives then you must have players at each objective
Making it easier to retake an objective would force attacking teams to guard an objective until the objective is capped because they know their hack is easily stopped.

Adjusting objective hack and hack cancelling speed based on who controls the most objectives is brilliant. I love this idea.
If your team only has 1 objective, then it should take the enemy substantially longer to capture your last objective; it should also decrease time needed to cancel an enemy hack. Like you said, the time it takes your team to hack an objective should substantially shorter when your team holds few objectives; the time it takes for the enemy to cancel that hack would be longer as well.
You misspelled Skirmish in the title. |

My God, what the hell have I been playing? 'Skirmch' mode sucks! I will try this Skirmish alternative next time LOL. (There is no spell check for the topic sorry my bad) |

To the OP, you can edit the title and stuff.
To everyone else, why you no comment? Don't you want hack speed to be inversely proportional to the number of objectives controlled by the hacker's team. |

Dust, like EVE, is incredibly one-sided when facing opponents that know what they are doing and you don't or a force with more focused skill point allocation.
To increase hacking speed, a equip the module and train the skill that allows its use. Skills and modules are the focus of EVE and Dust. |

If the opponent knows what they're doing, its not going to stop them from winning, it will only help makes things less one sided. This only has to be for highsec where new and casual players play. |

For highsec yes. For real warfare, such as SOV or Lowsec, no. |

FOR HIGHSEC, Hack speed should be inversely proportional to the number of objectives controlled by the hacker's team.
This means if your team only has 1 objective, then it should take the enemy substantially longer to capture your last objective; it would also decrease time needed to cancel an enemy hack. It means that the time it takes your team to hack an objective should substantially shorter; the time it takes for the enemy to cancel that hack would be longer as well.
This would make it harder to completely dominate a Skirmish battle, and easier to turn the tides around if you're being dominated. One sided battles are boring for the dominant team, and painful for the losing team; they're not fun, and this would help prevent it.
Anyone else agree or have comments on this subject? |
