This in my opinion would solve alot of the problems with new players being clueless as to whaat to do and what they would like to spec into.
So here is how it would work. It could take the form of a sort of smaller scale single player campaign. Early in the "campaign" the missions are strictly teaching basic things. Movement, Shooting, Fitting, Vehicles, etc. It could be explained by that the NPC corp u are automatically in has to train u.
After the initial training a distress signal comes in from a planet under attack by rogue drones, mercs, sansha, whatever. Your corp wants you and other NPC mercs to take the contract and experience the real thing. A sort of initiation.
The rest of the "campaign" takes you through various game modes, using various equipment, and letting the player try out various aspects of the game and different classes. Say for part of a mission you need to provide overwatch to you squad as a sniper or you need to hold a corridor with an HMG. This would let everyone get a taste as to whats out there so they dont spec into stuff clueless about if you like it or not.
All enemies would be AI. No PvP. These missions are optional but highly recommended.
Connect each mission with a cool story or something. Sort of like the tutorial missions in eve.
I think this is a good idea because it solves a number of existing problems and a few suggestions on the forums. 1. Teaches the game to noobs 2. Lets everyone try out different weapons and equipment 3. Cool PvE action 4. It would just be fun |

Hell, an interactive screenshot of the various menu screens would go a long way. Highlight something click on it and and it opens an in-depth description as to what it is. |

I would honestly prefer some kind of mission series. Most people i don't think would want to take the time to read all the menus.
by all means it should be added but for use if someone gets confused or forgets something

Yes! +1 OP
I can't imagine this would be too terribly difficult to implement. They are already working on PvE. So why not make a series of special PvE training missions? There could be ones for teaching weapon mechanics (like the very unique laser rifle), vehicle mechanics, gamemode mechanics, squad/teamwork mechanics, and fitting/customization mechanics. Oh, and maybe a Corporation training match, to run through exercises and such.
And it can all be narrated by that robotic-lady-voice thing. (Though I admit, I preferred the British sounding one in previous builds) |

This would be cool, but I think it would be easier to provide a greater variety of starter fits, and a greater variety of weapons available as militia grade.
Every dropsuit and weapon should be represented through starter fits to give people a taste of everything to get an idea of what they want to spec into. |
