We should be able to see the scan profile of our dropsuit fitting with current skills and modules. Any attribute that is affected by fitting and skills should appear somewhere in the fitting window so we can have an idea of suit performance.
It would also be useful to get an idea of how the scan profile will affect our visibility on radar. Maybe an estimated value of "you will be visible when moving at X meters and visible when station at X meters."
Can of hard to test in game right now. |

agreed.
BTW, does scan profile affect line of sight, or just radar? |

Pretty sure it's just radar. Snipers can hit people across the map. That doesn't depend on radar. Just line of sight and appropriate skills.
EDIT: I forgot to put a +1... <~~~ there it is. |

+1 for both a readout in the fitting screen and for more specific details on how the scanning system functions.

I was thinking of another concept related to profile last night. The strength of the signal could be reflected on the radar. Someone with with heavy weapons and heavily shield extended should show bright while a dampened scout would show as a faint signal that flickers in and out as they move around. |

I agree that there should be some indication for 'signal strength' both for scans and profil dampeners. Some basic info at equip screen could be useful.
+5% or -5% doesn't mean anything if we don't have a baseline to measure it against.

+5% or -5% doesn't mean anything if we don't have a baseline to measure it against. Since the Scan Profile and the sensor systems are built into your Dropsuit, maybe CCP should include the stats for them in the Dropsuit "Attributes" screen.
They could have "Scan Profile" as the chance to avoid detection, and "Scan Precision" or something for how good you are at detecting others. Of course, they'd also need to list "Scan Radius" to show you the range your passive scanner operates at.
Hmmm... this sounds familiar... like... exactly to the letter the scenario I'm looking at on my screen right now. Stats are already there, in a fairly logical position. |

Here is liitle threat about scaning, but there is more more more.... https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=409220#post409220

Thanks for the link. Much appreciated.
The information you are referring to only appears in the dropsuit info and does not reflect skills or modules. You are not expected to manually figure things like shield or armor strength. All I'm asking for is the same be applied to scan profile.

When a target's in line of sight, but not specifically under your crosshairs, scan profile determines the range at which they get the red marker above their heads, and the range at which they're marked on friendly HUDs. When you line up on the target, even if they're outside sensor range, they light up anyway, but obviously, you can only mark one target at a time like this. |
