I'm just really concerned that people are leaving the game ...
Those who are leaving the beta at this stage of development are the ones who stand to lose the most. They won't know what has changed or improved as they allow themselves to be ignorant of what's happening. They won't know what to do when the game finally does come out into the public because everything they knew then will have been completely changed by that time. Eve players are already gearing up to Dust 514 and thus ready to establish permanent power blocs in Dust so that new players can benefit from the experience of those who stuck with Dust's development till the very end while those who gave up during the beta will have to start all over again in terms of understanding the game.
Therefore, I do not feel any concern about people leaving the game at this stage of development. That just means the scrubs are leaving while the dedicated few remain to make Dust 514 better. Eve Online has experienced the same thing when it was first born. Because of the hostile culture of Eve, most MMO players wouldn't touch Eve Online with a 39 1/2 foot pole because they are use to the carebear culture of themepark MMOs like World of Warcraft and Second Life. As a result, Eve was left with the dedicated few who enjoyed the hostile nature and because of this nature Eve Online grew to have the most sophisticated and dynamic gaming experience in existence. A strong economy driven only by the players, a no-rules culture that allows creativity to expand, and a community that not only works together regardless of player differences but also supports a player-elected Council that enables players to influence the progressive development of Eve. Imagine this kind of progress for Dust.
Now, it will take a long time and I understand many players out there just don't have the patience so wait and see. But their impatience is none of my concern either. If they expect everything to work 100% on day one in an MMO that is suppose to take years to flourish, they are in for a reality check and that is their problem not mines.
Again, their loss for leaving so soon.
