I agree it would be better if people were on team comms more often. But imo, the problem is elsewhere: indeed, we lack various stuff such as :
- quick request ( ammo, support, etc..) - Proxy chat at least inside a team to ease local comm - SL being able to easily communicate with their peers. Pushing select, activating Team, discussing, going back to squad is waaaaaaay tooooooooo looooooooooooooooong
Cause team chat is all good and nice. but it's not good. 16 people talking altogether is more confusing in battle than groups of 4 able to communicate properly.
Got to give MAG credits for its comm system in battle. Copy Paste it to Dust would be great. |

Got to give MAG credits for its comm system in battle. Copy Paste it to Dust would be great. MAG comms were great because it designated leadership to a few people who are able to relay orders so that everyone can hear. whether it is PL or OIC. Not sure how that system can be implemented here unless someone is given a comm channel that overrides all or forces everyone to hear, whether they are in corp chat or squad chat. But I can only imagine that the Battle Commander (in dust..forgot what the title will be. But the one controlling the installations from the sky) will be able to have that sort of power.
Well, like you said it needs to have SL being able to quickswitch to a "SL chat" and then the commander that would be able to "talk to all" or "talk to SL". In fact, as he'll be playing a RTS, he should also have "Talk so squad X" and "talk to player X".
But i think a "SL chat" accessible easily. Why not an addition to the R2 menu ? Hold R2, point a chat icon, switch to SL chat. Hold R2, point icon again => back to squad chat. And voila, you have a MAG inspired comm system in battle. |
