Its not off, that much is for sure. I really haven't played any at all with it on so I dunno how big the reduction really is.
Its quite clear that some level of AA is on at all times. Its like modern cars, you can turn the traction control off, but its not really off, it just lets you spin that tail a little further.
I was hiding in one of the corners of the 4 point map due to the sudden arrival of a very tasty burger. When I suddenly saw my character moving. I found this strange since I wasn't even close to the controller. It happened again and then I could clearly see that a red dot passed me by. My hipfire sight turned red and followed the target a little bit making my character spin slightly to the right.
This is a bad sign I think. If the AA turned off is powerful enough to actually move my character, how is it like playing with it on? Have any decent player tested it and can tell me how it works? Is it better or worse?
As many others, I've been QQing about the chunkyness off the entire game, and especially the basic gun/aim mechanics. I feel sometimes when tracking moving targets that I sort of have to work against the game, or what I believe is the AA. Sometimes, especially when hipfireing, I can't really get any shots to land. Its like some invisible force pulls me off my target. And I also experience "target hops" were the AA (again, I believe) make my spraying follow another target as long as it is close enough to the original. This is really annoying too.
The really weird thing is that sometiimes it works completely opposite. I sometimes (coug) smoke during games, which leaves my right hand almost useless. Sometimes I've had to suddenly fire without my right hand on the right analogue stick, making me rely on strafing only. Even though I can clearly see that I'm off targert, somehow the game leads me to the target and I get the kill. Strange.
At least I hope we all can agree on one thing:
When turned off, the auto aim should be off, no? |

Get a hookah or a bong dude, especially the ones with the really long snout. You will have both hands to yourself. I use a sippy cup hat for my alcohol dude. Works like a charm.

Its not like its a big issue or anything. I would like a "hookah" though, no matter what it is.... |

Sorta related I think:
AA should not be present in competitive online games. I hate this trend that every console game now has to have it. I don't see the point. How many ppl actually need this crutch? |

I was just going to make topic with some questions about hipfire. It feels for me like there is something broken with hit detection / hitbox ?? .
Whole clip from GEK didn't do much damage / no damage at all a number of times. I am used to hipfire in CQC and starting to find it really annoying. If I just stay and ADS there is much higher chance that I survive. It is much easier to focus on target strafing than aiming with R3 when ADS as well.
I guess AA is here to stay. Number of ppl that cannot run through doors in any shooter is quite big. |

Well that's just general FPS rules.
ADS>Hipfire
You're always going to deal more consistent damage when ADS as long as you can track. It's harder to do in real close combat, however when you do, you'll be better for it. |

The only online game that I've played that allows you completely turn off Aim-Assist is GTA IV. but it also allows you to have a hard-lock aim mode so it cancels out.
Developers need to learn the meaning of the word OFF. |
