At the moment, I think that Vehicles and Infantry are pretty well balanced from the past few matches I've played. As a squad, my players took out 5-6 Sagaris' and Gunloggi's over 3-4 games. We were working together, which made it an "easy" challenge. I also lost 2 of my tanks. One to a stupid bug which threw my tank across the road into the enemy red zone, and another to Seraphim guys. They also used tactics, and kept me holed up in my red area behind cover for a while, before actively coming after me in LAV's for suicide runs and finally taking me out. (Good job, it was a good fight). This leads me to believe that balance is pretty good right now. A forge gunner can send a tank running, but tanks can also cause general chaos. Pretty good so far.
However, some things need work. For one Missile turrets need looking at. Railguns are fine, they have their uses for the tanks that like to snipe from across the map. Forge is alright, may need a slight tweak, so that a forge gunner can't just play peek a boo and hide behind a 5 inch rock whenever a tank comes nearby. I don't mind it how it is, but the tears are coming from others.
One thing which can dynamically change things is ISK values. Making tanks cheaper will not help. What can be done is to give higher amounts of ISK, like in the ISK Week, and how I already have pointed out. This will allow tankers not to receive as much of a huge hit that they get in their wallets every time a tank gets destroyed, and AV/Infantry won't cry when their precious advanced suits get killed. |

Then, these are no longer "op" death machines that two or three people spawn in random games, but a corp asset that the corp as a whole pays for, and wouldn't reallybwaste on random matches.
Also with the tanks, sevrely lower their maneuvering abilities. Slower speed, longer times to accelorate, slower turning speeds. Make them have the defense to take the hits and keep going, much like a battleship in eve, but slow lumbering bricks. This woukdbbe a great balance, because then you would only drop in a tank if you feel your infantry can keep the enemy away from you and from killing you, and they will not be prevalent in random matches, and in corp battles you should be able to know how to effectively counter enemy tanks while keeping yours alive.
See that's going about it the wrong way. The tanks will be practically invincible for 4-5 games before a squad actively tries to take them out, and the price increase will stop their usage mostly. They need to stay the same, and ISK payouts need increasing. |

You make the tank a beast to take out, but one the REQUIRES team coordination and communications to be effective. Sure keep some cheap ass malitia tanks that will be cheap to spawn into pubbie games.
I want to see tanks that you deploy and use as a strategic asset....that would take a coordinated team effort on enemies side to take out, TEAM effort btw....and I want that same tank to not be able to sprint away like a frightened deer but have to tactically withdraw to safety. And NOT be paper thin. I want a tank tank. If you want speed, get an advanced LAV which also should get an hp buff.
No, we won't be rolling in ISK from day one, and we probably won't have the ridiculous EvE money flowing in for a while, maybe never. Also, intergalactic mercenaries should be able to afford at least 5 suits per game. So far, I can only afford 1 A-Series per game. |
