If you happen to be the red dot in the sight picture then so be it.
I WILL hunt for you if two conditions are met:
1) You're on my team and you get put down, I'll try and get to you to hit you with an injector if I have one.
2) You're on the opposing team and you center puch me with a sniper rifle. I will try to respond in kind to restore balance...
But that's it.
As far as coming down out of the mountains... I'm doing that more amd more anyway. When I have comms with a squad or team I prefer to be with them, regardless of what roll I'm trying to fill. And when I'm with a mic'd squad then I ask if they're okay with me "going high". However, if I have zero comms with anybody on the team then I do my own thing. What I do at that point becomes situationally dependant. If the other team is filled with Imperfects, Zions, STB's, et. al. and the team I'm on is filled with randoms then let's be honest, it's only a matter of time before defeat is served up on a curb stomped platter.
btw - Your last response was good, imo. Attitude but no venom filled bs. So, I apologize for the tone of my original message but not the message itself. There were a lot of people providing civil feedback. Your tone was uncalled for. |

I dont see any problems with snipers, unless they are incredibly good they are of no use to ambush maps and on a skirmish map they are basically a clone soldier down for their team.
The forge gun is much more problematic in regards to long range obliteration, I do however feel that the sniper rifle should have its optimal range changed from 0-599m to 50-599m.
This is to only ensure the weapon isnt abused and forces the player to switch to a more appriate weapon, and too keep the sniper at proper range from his targets.
Moving on to forge gun problem... |

The one thing i have liked and respected about CCP is the fact that they don't respond to kids crying about snipers shooting them in the face from 2km away while sipping a diet coke and eating cake on other hand. So please keep the EVE tradition alive and listen to actual reasonable requests not Waaa waaa sniper got me. |

It's called counter sniping. If you really had a good team and knew where the sniper was (obviously you do, as you're describing his location in great detail), then you could've easily put a man with his own sniper build in a safe area on oversight to take him (and others) out. Instead, you and your team were punished for your lack of foresight, as deserved. As though you felt snipers have never existed in any FPS ever. Surprise, they do. C'mon man. |

Vallud Eadesso wrote:I have to say, a million ISK ain't a lot of ISK at all. Especially when we get connected to EVE... I mean one of the first things i'll probably do is send over about a billion ISK and 50,000 Arum.
From that point a million ISK is some insignificant drop in the water. The problem with snipers is the risk\reward, not their balance. There is no reason for a Sniper to actually get out and fight, and as i've said before, i'd like to push for a total redesign of the class, making it fill more of an "in squad" marksman role, rather than a dead weight up in the mountains.
But that's a rant for another day. Long and short: Increasing the cost of the weapons is only a short term solution. Once inflation kicks in and corps can fund Dust Bunnies, ISK becomes moot, much like in Alliance Warfare in EVE.
and I will never see a piece of that.... |

As a sniper trained by Sleepy Zan, you make some valid and invalid points. Obodiah, changing that range doesn't work. Running into a sniper on the ground, if you start shooting them first, they can't keep their scope straight enough to hit you. Just hit them first ~_^
Too many blueberries up in the mountains sniping is stupid. However, when that's happening, any counter sniper can easily clear the hillside. If half the team is sniping, then that team is probably going to lose anyways =p.
I do think they need to change the sharpshooter skill for sniper's specifically so that they do have to skill into for cross map shooting. I skilled into just so I could hit the snipers hiding in the hills where you can't go ~_^.
Sniping takes some skill, but it is easy. Shotguns are also noob friendly =p. Your example is just good tactics and teamwork. Sorry, people are going to whine when they die. I still get run over by LAVs though XD. |

The most expensive sniper isnt even that good....seriously though hit detection means my shots dont count 70% of the time and i can only OHK with headshots. The seriously bad hit detection pisses me off to no bloody end. Give me no sway and I will run around. Until then I HAVE TO CAMP OR I GET SHOT WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS A DUVOLLE. Plus the Kalaakiota is like 60k which tbh is not even worth it with the cheaper standard sniper, ist just a waste of ISK. |

Those things with sharpshooter can kill from long ranges very quickly.
Give me an incentive to get off the ground, or no. As of current if I dont go on those mountains with a sniper and get out there, my K/D drops like lead. |

Finn you a right the AR will shred the scout suit pretty fast. Maybe this poses a problem for you 2 move from place 2 place. I dunno i'm not a sniper but i do know one spot does not help all objectives. It only helps the K / D of the camper. Help me and other mercs out pls. I wanna understand maybe ill become a sniper if you persuade me. It seems to be a cushy job with benefits

Camping is part of the job of a sniper, (Scout is a different job) but it doesn't have to be the end all be all to the class. I've had my fair share of sitting up in the hills but depending on what map your on or the situation i.e. being redlined, that doesn't work for winning the map. An active sniper will move around looking for a better angle, more enemies, readjusting to the teams movement... This means more often than not however, that the snipers k/dr isn't going to be anywhere near the upper part of the leaderboard. (My k/dr proves that) If that is what you care about then don't be a sniper. Skill gain is slower than a decent ground pounder so reaching that upper tier takes longer. And let's face it, it is a really thankless role to fill most of the time. And that's only if your good at it. "All you do is sit there and no one can shoot you back, you scrub" blah. Find a counter, oh wait you have a sniper on YOUR team that just took me out. Well well well it looks like you have a counter. It's just not YOU. Someone jumped in a dropship and missled me to kibble. You have a counter. It's just not YOU. If you have the need to kill that sniper put a fitting together that can accomplish that objective... of course that means you'll be sniping... lest you become and all that...
Respectfully...
