now more than ever us dedicated pilots need some. Since my gunners literally cant get any kills anymore my WP has taken a dive. We really need some incentive to play the transport role because at the moment dropships are just expensive distractions. I'm not gonna ***** about the missile nerf (although splash damage alone would have been enough) but come on, I don't mind running people around, hell, flying around is my favorite thing to do so how about...
:Any passengers that get out of your dropship, the pilot gets capture assists or kill assists for a certain amount of time (10 - 15 seconds)
:Or just give points for pick up and drop off, but that would probably lead to boosting.
come on CCP, LOVE ME!
sorry about the double post, put it in the wrong place before |

The matches i've played where the DS had an organized team and was dropping mercs off at objectives, sometimes flying in fast and hovering behind rocks close to the ground demonstrated to me how incredibly effective a skilled pilot can be.
Definitely should share points for capturing objectives. Maybe even kill assists for some period of time from mercs that are dropped off on the ground.
Should also have a method to eject/drop passengers at objectives if they don't have voice coms and don't know when/why/how/where to jump off.
I have never been a pilot in dust so maybe someone can answer this question: - Would it help a pilot to have a HUD bombsight reticle (like a circle that moves along the ground) in view on his headset to show where the mercs will approximately hit the ground if they jump off during high speed? - then the pilot could make high speed "bombing runs" ejecting mercs out at objectives while maintaining high speed/altitude? - maybe that just takes the skill out of the flying though, and becomes OP. Just a thought.

An eject button would be good for randoms that just want a ride ( but could also be used for trolling, like dropping people outside the redline) I dont think bomber markers are needed. if your organized and a good pilot you'll know when to tell your crew to jump out, of course blue dots are a different story. I tend to land and wait most of the time anyway, unless theres heavy fire. |

+ 1ed... but hard to implement as rewarding pilots for doing anything but sitting in the pilots seat is inconsistent based on delivery etc. and rewarding them simply for sitting in the pilot's seat opens the door for alot of AFK SP farming behind the Red-Line. |

thats why I think the timer would work pretty well, you would have to be pretty active to share your crews assists and there would be no way to farm at base......maybe..... |

+1 I respect the pilots of DS , have tried alot of DS but for me its impossible to fly, so for me its very important to get 2-3 good pilots in our corp..... ( damn hard birds to fly) |

You're right, they are hard to get used to. I really wish there was a way to practice getting the hang of the controls outside of matches. It really sucks to buy them and then have to try and learn how to fly them while being shot down. |

There's a good thread somewhere on thes eforums about learning to fly them... (can't rememebr exactly whereP and it actually suggests you stay at the base and procatice the basics there. You'll be flamed, hated, and cursed by your team, but you'll get the hang of flyaing much faster when you aren't being shot at. |

We also need to be rewarded like dropuplinks for people spawning into our dropships if we have a mobile CRU onboard. |

That would be my "Dropship Flight School" thread now found in the Training Ground.
Don't worry about being hated, just take your time and learn how to fly. Your spawn on most maps is a very safe place to practice, with plenty of buildings and landing pads to practice on and around.
