I don't get it, I've never heard anyone moan so much about vehicles in any other game, yet in Dust it seems like they're the worst thing since Satan. Seems to me that instead of crying so much, you ought to go buy yourself a tank, if that truly is the only way to play right? This playerbase kinda makes me sad.

Edit 11/21: You people confuse me, I am now seeing posts about how much missle turrets suck and how much of a problem that is, when before you were all complaining about how it was the missle turrets that made vehicles to good. Make up your mind, or go get a frontal labotomy.
Edit: I felt like this (quote of myself below) would fit in the OP, just so it isn't lost assuming this thread continues to recieve attention.

"Oh man, tanks are to good on these wide open maps that are generally in barren areas not well suited for urban life, talk about OP". When we have more urban areas, things like dropships and tanks will have less use. Sure a tank might be able to dominate a street, but it can't really shoot through buildings. I noticed on that map with the Warbarge - Ashland - tanks were a rarety, and only on the outer objectives, they very seldom went inside the compound.
The real "issue" is just that the game is currently not optimized well enough for the PS3 to handle such urban and cluttered areas, and as such we are stuck with some very wide open spaces in order to acheive playable framerates. I never heard a single complaint about tanks or dropships on Ashland the only issues I ever heard about were shotguns and framerate drops.

I realize that, but the whole point of this game is specialization into a specific role, instead of being able to spawn as whatever you want with the best skills and weapons.
My question for you is this, if you want to run around shooting infantry, what compelled you to spec into AV? Clearly that doesn't satisfy your goal.
Ludvig Enraga wrote:Yeah, why do ppl zitch so much about having no way to win besides driving a tank in this First Person Shooter game? I just don't get it. Go play any of serveral other FPS game (excluding CoD 4 and on) and tell me there are not vehicles. Halo, Battlefield, PlanetSide, Blacklight: Retribution (Hardsuits fit the arguement), MAG, and so on. This is the only game I've ever seen so many people whine about. |

What an honor... thank you sir. Clearly your tank is not working properly. Or perhaps it is, as an after thought. |

Garrett Blacknova wrote:HAVs can be game-dominating death machines.
They can be little more than scarecrows if a good infantry-heavy team knows what they're doing.
Missile Turrets are the only thing that really needs major adjustments, and anything else about vehicles either needs to be buffed or left alone. Swarm Missile pathing is an issue, and also needs addressing - done properly, this should be part-buff and part-nerf.
I've seen games where one team has a couple of LAVs or Dropships called in, and they get instapopped, while the other team is slaughtering with their 3+ HAVs, but it's Skirmish, and the vehicle-less team wins because nobody's leaving their tanks and the infantry are keeping hold of all the objectives. Generally, a few AV guys, while unable to kill a coordinated tank squad, can force them to keep moving and prevent them from bringing their full power to bear on an objective for long enough to help. If you can't clear the objective for long enough to let your infantry hack it, then you need more feet on the ground and less in the tanks. Even after all the time I've been gone, you still have valuable, relative input. Goes well with what I'm saying, tanks aren't really an issue, people just need to look at them differently. The game is set up for them to shine right now, the PS3 cannot handle building/graphical clutter (with the lack of optimization), so urban areas are out of the question. As such tanks will shine until further optimization can allow for more crowded maps. |

Omnipotens Zitro wrote:This is what what CCP doesn't not understand! That this game has individual skill! Nothing is truely OP! It is just a very skill player using what CCP gave them at a highly effective rate.
That's why very few can go 50+/0 with just a sica tank. While a player with lesser skill might need a Sagaris to achieve the same stat.
I go 20-0 constantly with just BPO militia gear on an assault suit. I have yet to see one post saying that militia gear is so OP. I kill High end gear players with ease, only using a miltia assault rifle. Should a 250k+ fit proto should lose a battle against a free Militia fit with ease? No but it happens all the time.
I think you misunderstand - CCP fully realizes personal and squadron skill, and hopes for it to be utilized. The problem is not CCP, it's the players; they are unwilling to wait for the game to reach a point where it can run smoothly in a crowded setting, they are saying "even though open maps are all the PS3 can handle right now with the state of the game engine, CCP should nerf the crap out of a skill-set that shines in the current setting". They aren't taking into account that in the future, there will be maps and locations where vehicles will be an ill investment. |

Oh man I love today! Yesterday "tanks are OP QQ nerf them to ****!" Today "WTF CCP!? Why did you nerf missle turrets so bad!? Now vehicles suck!" This comunity needs to make up it's mind about what it does and does not hate. |

^ Just because the enemy team is to stupid to use forge guns, does not make the LAV powerful. It's a zippy little damage dealer, but 56/0 is luck. |
