Well then I suppose they wouldn't be called LAVs then, more like LTVs (light transport vehicles). So instead of a turret, the LTV would have 1 driver slot and 3 passenger slots. |

I'm unsure on this one.
When people have suggested it before, they've been saying to use the existing model and somehow make it work without the turret, and ignored the fact that doing so would require a new set of poses and animations for the person riding in the back.
Making a slightly different model that's a 4-seater transport vehicle might work.
But it's still ignoring the fact that a fitting requirement applied to EVERYTHING is that you MUST HAVE A WEAPON. An unarmed transport vehicle can't fulfill that fitting requirement, negating its validity as a proper fitting.
I'm not really sure it would be a good idea to recode and rewrite things just to provide a non-combat vehicle in a shooter. And that will only encourage more people to run over enemies, which already gets a fair amount of rage. I can usually dodge as an Assault or Logi suit, and almost always dodge as a Scout, but I'd rather not see more reasons for people to spam complaints about being run over. |

I like the new vehicle idea (+1) but leave me my free LAV please... I don't have any vehicle skills (literally zero sp spent) but every once in a while I need to get to a hot zone fast with something that gives me a false sense of security just so I can provide the red dots with some points...

It also needs a bumper on it to prevent running people over and engine noises. Its annoying knowing that I got ran down by some scrub that didn't pay a cent for his vehicles. |

Good points. But i'm sure it may also be possible to just make a single, unfittable throwaway vehicle. But given the nature of this game it would be weird not to be able to upgrade a vehicle. And SOMEONE will ask for a prototype LTV.
I don't know, I just feel iffy about free vehicles in general but understand their necessity due tp the large scale of Dust. I'm conflicted. |

Dupe the current passenger seat twice, facing backwards, in place of the turret. No new animations required.

Quick hack would be to add a "PEW PEW" un-manned 0 dmg invisible weapon until they have time to re-eval fitting requirements. |

quickest hack would be to force all free LAV to use blasters. There problem solved. LAV Blasters are so crap it's better to jump out and shoot than to stay in the vehicle.
all that aside, i don't see what the problem is with weapons on LAV anyways. Fix missiles (however the heck that will be done), then everything is ok.

The problem is, 9 out of 10 blueberries think they're a mounted AR and that laying on the trigger won't overheat the turret or throw the accuracy way off.
Anyhow, I agree that the only default turrets on these should be blasters- just like dropships. |

I would support this idea if passengers could shoot from the vehicle. |

I figure it's so weak already, and that the blaster is rather pointless at high speeds, long ranges, open areas, that its pros and cons kind of equal out. My opinion. |

Doing it that way WOULDN'T work.
The idea in this thread is a slightly better one than those I've pointed out this problem with. |

And the only thing starter fit balochs are ever used for is either a wrecking ball, or a way to give heavies super speed. This suggestion fixes neither of those. |

The problem with transport idea can be fixed by making a small turret that is a two seat bench. It could be mounted right where the current small turrets are on lav and dropship. If a player buys a small turret they could swap it for the seats if they wanted a weapon.
So, the free vehicle would come with 4 passenger seats, and be a valid fit since the bench would be counted as a weapon.
The people that want to keep current free lav can for 30 aur by buying militia turret bpo, or the turret of there choice for isk or aur bpo.
The dropship and hav(just no turrets on model instead of putting bench on outside when fitting extra passenger capacity) gain option of giving up firepower for transport capability. I would have loved this when I was using nano-sagaris. It was fast but fragile so I could never stop moving and weaving, so gunners where useless but it was so fun to drive, if this option was available I could have carried four passengers to objective then circled to provide support.
It seems like it would add more to game and be easier to do then making a new hull.
