Not where we want to be, but definitely worth the effort. There are issues, but nothing really insurmountable, and the closed beta will continue until sometime in 2013, so there is time. Next build will be a ton of fixes, so a lot of problems should disappear, and it seems like they're really taking their time with it to make it good. |

Controls ok, gun gameplay is ok but there is slight hit detection issues left over from last build (though its mostly fixed), frame rate is terribad, lag is terribad. |

I'd check in a month if I were you, since the new build is long overdue. It should be out soon. |

I think your people's eyes are clouded by past memories. MAG was a terrible game. It wasn't much better than this, the developers gave up soon after it was released, it had **** graphics, unbalanced gameplay, and the 256 player matches were the only things it had going for it.

All types of wrong.
Anyway, the game is worth it. You will never find what dust is offering and will offer. I'm certain they will fix what needs to be fixe. That's why they're still delaying releases. |

not worth it at the moment , im on the fence till next release. The game play isnt there and everyone is hoping that a RPG can solve it. Most of the suggestions in the feedback section are more about add ons things that have nothing to do with the battlefield or how to improve the battlefield it self.
I feel we were told that Dust would be a game that would introduce FPS players to the Eve universe, but instead Dust introduces RPG players to FPS games instead. The only way i can explain it is if they copy and pasted the Eve`s skill list and copy and paste battlefield 1943. Now they are just trying to glue stick them together.
Zero punctuation basically nailed Dust without ever having to play it. playing domination without a roof on Raven was more fun and less frustrating then playing normal dust skirmish |

I'm not comparing Dust to MAG, I'm asking the old MAG communities opinion of the state of DUST because we generally share the same concept of what we're both looking for. I have very little free time, so I'm seeing if they vouch for this game before I go downloading another god knows how many MB patch to play. |

Dust still has some work but I agree check back in a couple weeks. The new build should be coming out and per CCP they are concentrating on tweaking/fixing the core game this time and not coming out with new items. Hopefully this next build will fix what little hit detection issue there is left and also fix some of the gungame. The lag is really hit and miss. I only have a 1.5 mbps connection and I will play several days with little to no lag....but then sometimes (like last night) I cant even play because I watch everybody skip around and then I jump off of cliffs just to appear back at the top.
For those in this post that stated MAG was a horrible game.............they dont know what they are talking about. MAG was an amazing game but the problem was the developers never tried to tweak things. They made huge swinging adjustments instead of slight tweaks to get things just right. If they never did the 1.3 RBS patch then MAG would have lived for alot longer than it did. If they wanted to change weapons they should have just added a range to certain weapons. But I digress.......anyone who played MAG saw just how poorly Zipper ran that game. |

While browsing the forums upon gaining access to these boards, I noticed a lot of M.A.G. hate. Never understood why.
It's weird seeing people here that were on the old forums. They seem to be bigger...jerks. I remember EnglishSnake being a pretty cool guy. Some of the recent posts I have seen though. I dunno. The SVER clansmen seemed to be constantly ragged on, but I never really saw too much to base it on, aside from those few guys who thought they were gods. Now it's...shgriflighrshersh.
To answer your question, I don't think it's worth it RIGHT NOW, but i'm willing to stick with it because it will be worth it IN THE LONG RUN. |

For me, I crash a lot more on MAG than I do on Dust.
Dust is really going to be a great game once bugs and problems are gradually cleared out. Definately a good replacement for MAG. The only thing apart from the bugs is that I hope they change the Squad size from 4 to 6 or 8. Im sure it's only small now for testing puposes. And problems like HAVs or LAV blasting the MCC or driving under the MCC to get an easy redlining kill, I hope they change that too. |

Some of the MAG players who appreciate that this is a different game, a few non-MAG console gamers and a lot of the people coming over from EVE have decided to bash MAG in retaliation, since that's what mature adults do. |

Considering we played " a beta" for over 2 years (MAG) I say this is a step up even in its current phase, even with the current issues faced, still better beta than MAG (a beta).
When we get to the point of actually having a release date, seeing the server pop. Knowing this has one of the biggest fan-bases on the planet, who devout whole workweeks into this game and pay ccp to do it. This game will excel. |

Lol. you musta quit a loooong time ago. But i remember those times. Katana knives ftw. Speaking of knife game play, I think it became excellent in MAG after the fixed that 15 ft knifing thing around MAG 2.0. Hope we can develop similar knife CQC in MAG now. |

even though this is a fan boy comment, still +1. I think what Dust got going is a two way strong relationship between devs and players. Few dev teams are like that out there, most are shackled in sweat shops by large producers. |

Well, I'm not agreeing with you on the first part but you are of course entitled to your opinion and if you experience it that way I won't argue with you, in my case it's not even close though. =)
The second part I agree with you and I truly hope you're right, I even hope the fanboys of Dust are right, that this will eventually grow into something really good. =)
I'm not looking for a "MAG 2", I gave up that dream as soon as rumours about Dust appeared as no matter what gameplay or item wise thing they do similar to MAG, running around in space with lasers, dropships etc is so far away from a "MAG 2" I'd expect or want (I don't really like scifi futuristic shooters, only ones I've played for a longer time before were Unreal and Killzone), so don't worry about me trying to change or influence Dust to being MAG, I just want Dust to be the next game I can team up with and join the people I've come to play with for so long in other games similar to Dust/MAG/etc, because it got the potential of being a hit... right now though I can't play it and enjoy it, not at the moment, and that was what this thread was all about, what the views of a "MAG player" was on playing Dust in its current state. |
