These are two different things. Most people don't know. They think Dust 514 = free game lol. Dust 514 is like planetside 2 for the PS3.They both a free to play mmo. This do not mean any of these games are generic shooters. These games are not free cell phone games. They told us Dust 514 is going to be a triple A game and that's what I expect when it is release. Planetside 2 comes out tomorrow. I hope they do good. That will only expand that game to the PS4 if so. But for those people who want Dust to fail so it can come to the PC. You idiots, if it fail on the ps3....it probably won't come to the PS4 or PC morons. I'm hoping Dust 514 is successful. |

I don't even get "AAA", does that just mean they have a massive budget and can slap a high production rating on a ****** project? Hmm... |

1.) They have enough money to buy ratings.
or
2.) They actually made a quality game.
But number two never happens anymore, sadly. Game developers quit caring for their customers and started to care more for their wallets. |

I hate the term tripple A. Its just marketing trying to one up their compitition. The few tripple A games I've played have been pretty crappy. You'd imagine with tens to hundreds of millions of dollars put into a game, they'd come up with something special.
Same goes for the movie industry. Immortals looked like a snore but The Fall from the same director for a small fraction of the money was really good. Especially when you know that they shot the movie in around 40 different countries and no CG sets were used (minus the arrow scene) for around 1 to 2m dollars. Whoops, I got off topic i think |

Free To -Play- not Free To -Pay-
I disagree with your opinion that it Dust 514 fails on PS3, we won't see it on PS4. There's far too much already invested, both money and assets in terms of art and tools developed. They can update to UE4 without having to redo everything. |

I think that if Dust fails it would taint Sony PS brand (you know b/c it's a Sony exclusive and b/c it's so tightly interconnected with Sony hardware performance and Sony marketing), so I think they won't let it fail.
But then again, Japan is sorta a far away place from where I live, they might see things differently there. |

World of tanks has quite nice F2P model. What scares me in dust F2P model is that I don't believe they will be able to raise enough money with current "pay" elements, hence we'll see more "pay" elements, most likely unpleasant one.
What I'm trying to say, that a game can be good, but particular F2P model can kill it. For instance, I liked Tribes. I installed it, played a bit, calculated how much time I need to play in order to get one weapon, uninstalled it.
With all these progressions elements in just simply ALL games nowadays, I'm missing Quake3 and Return To Castle Wolfenstein, which I played so much without any need in in-game progression. I'm starting to believe that progression is a cheap way to cover bad gameplay. |

I'm less worried about this. I think there are lots of people like me out there who are willing to pay for an MMO, but don't want to pay a monthly subscription because we can't predict how much we will be able to play in any given month. When I know I have some time to play, I can log in to Dust, buy a 1-day active SP booster (or perhaps some AUR items) play for a while, and repeat some other day.
I also think it is okay if Dust loses (a little bit of) money because CCP can use it as a loss leader. It will introduce Eve to a new set of players who will buy Eve subscriptions in order to make money/gear for their Dust characters. CCP can even estimate how much Eve business comes from Dust by measuring the flow of in-game wealth from Eve to Dust.

I want a choice. Pay for equipment or pay subscription. I'd much rather pay a monthly fee than know that every suit that I lose costs me a nickle. I don't want the game to interact with my wallet in such a direct way, to me this messes up the sense of immersion into the game.
It would be nice if you could choose to pay for AUR OR pay a monthly fee. The latter in the game could be reflected in some form of a proxy, for example: a 'smuggler's shop' that you gain access to with a monthly real money fee but in the game you buy stuff that normally would cost AUR with ISK in this shop. |

Haven't you noticed though. players are a lot more cautious in dust than they are in COD/BF3/MOH/MAG
In a game where every suit you lose costs you something, and not a superfluous Ratio. People play a lot differently and I like that.
I agree it sucks to pay for a game, but there is a better experience for it.

Their pay options now are boosters, which are good, and weapons/armors that you lose everytime you die with them, which is bad. All they need to add, and I imagine they will eventually add this, is cosmetic customization.
Look at Planetside 2, just came out yesterday. You can buy (for real-world cash only) skins that you can apply to your armor, your weapons, and your vehicles. You can buy special helmets, or totally cosmetic add-ons for your body armor. Hood ornaments for your vehicles. Cockpit shield colouration or decals for your aircraft. There's a whole lot of cosmetic stuff you can buy in the game. A lot of it looks cool. Anyone who plans on playing a while will no doubt drop some money on it.
That's all Dust needs. The dropsuits that exist solely to look different are a stupid idea, and I am guessing they're a temporary measure. Every dropsuit needs to be customizable (if you pay AUR and only AUR). Model customization, decals, and skins. This is how you make money with these games. Cosmetic stuff. |

This is definitely the intent CCP had but I am just saying that it got a slot machine feel that I don't prefer. I am not saying it should be gone from the game I am saying that I wish there was another option of payment. |
