 If you've never played one, try dropping in an hour or two before downtime on a skirmish match. You'll see 1v1 or 2v2 starts with other players dropping in until you hit around 8v8. It's a whole new game with a much more dynamic view of hacking, evasion, and aggressive tactics where one player can make the difference in the entire match.

 I played this lol. Another guy and I were the only ones in the match, then he rage quit, and I capped everything. 2 corps of squads arrived on enemy team, then my team started filling up and it was pretty epic.

 How do you know if your in a reinforcement match?
 
 There is a down time?

 Yes, once arena matches and the like arrive, we will have indoor infantry v infantry matches with no vehicles. This will reduce forum rants/complaining IMO.

 From 9:00 GMT to 11:00 GMT (1:00 AM PST to 3:00 AM PST / 4:00 AM EST to 6:00 AM EST - and sometimes up to two hours earlier than that) there aren't many mercs dropping into matches, so there's a stronger chance of dropping in to a match that starts off as a 1v1 or a 2v2 match. If you're a strategic player it means that you can very quickly begin hacking objectives and installations to assert dominance over the map, or lay traps for the enemy.
 
 Drop uplinks become a huge advantage as the low number of troops make them harder to find & dramatically reduce the time it takes to move around the map & each weapon can be played very strongly toward its strengths.
 
 If someone does call in a Dropship or an HAV - one Anti-vehicle player can keep them running all match, effectively taking 2-4 players out of the match -- which is devastating when you only have 8 to begin with, or you can simply avoid it by moving to the unprotected objectives.
 
 You'll also run into "LAV Tag" matches, where both sides call in an LAV to help move them around to matches & both sides are running anti-vehicle fits to take out enemy vehicles.
 
 These two hours are officially my favorite time to play this game
