Aside from announcing Battlefield 4 and the fact that you can gain beta access to its beta by buying Medal of Honor Warfighter, EA and DICE has been rather quiet when it comes to their next FPS offering. Well, if this newest "leak" is to be believed, Battlefield 4 might just be our first confirmed next-gen game.
Now, before you dive in and take in all the details, keep in mind that this is a rumor and quite a big one at that. So, bear that in mind before you pass on the news to every Battlefield fan you know.
According to Chinese site Chiphell, the details listed below came from someone working at EA China. Lucky for us that someone from NeoGAF managed to translate the whole deal as it reveals very surprising things and chief among those are that Battlefield 4 will be out in October 23, 2013, it will finally add Battlecorder and that it will be released both on current-gen and next-gen platforms.
Here's the full list of details from the translated text.
Coming October 23rd, 2013 Will be on PC, PS3, Xbox360 and next-gen consoles
Will be one of the first games for next-gen consoles
Commander system comes back
Profile can be linked with other devices like iPad
Auto login, need internet all time, support cloud saves
Easier to pickup the game, to take care of players from CoD
Support body and voice control for this commander system
Better battlelog integration and better stats reporting
Supports video playback and sharing
Have gem store for dlc and other stuff like that
3 factions: Russia, USA and China
Can deploy female soliders
Frostbite 2.0 engine
PC, PS4 and Xbox 720 will support 64 players, but 360 and PS3 will be less
PC, PS4 and Xbox 720 will provide 60 fps
Already have a demo video internally within EA,
Matching the quality of BF3 already
BF4 will use 80% of power of frostbite 2, wheras bf3 only 30-40%
Modern story background
Now, that's a lot of details to digest, no? If this is true, not only will the Commander game mechanic be back, but now players will be able to play 32 vs. 32 matches on their (next-gen) consoles, have three factions to choose from and even have an option to use female soliders.
Again, I stress that this is just a whopper of a rumor and could very well be fake. But if you're a Battlefield fan, I'm guessing you want most -- if not all -- of the things listed to be true, no?
We've contaced DICE for a response and will update the post if they release a statement.
