Vehicles aren't up to the E3 glory days, they still need a competent driver/pilot who knows when he can afford to press the attack, and when he needs to retreat and repair. Missile Turrets are currently broken, so using them is basically a must if you want to perform at the peak of your tank's capabilities. If you're running ANY turret on ANY vehicle as something other than a Missile Launcher, it's probably best if it's a Large Railgun Turret on your HAV, because those are a pretty good alternative to a Forge Gun, and can be a nice way to strip an enemy tank of its shields.
The other thing is that armour tanking is horribly outclassed by shields, because they get a LOT of extra options, most of which are better than the armour tanking options.
If you're set up nicely, Forge Guns will dent your shields, but not much more unless you stay out in the open and take it, and Swarms can pretty much only hurt you after the shields are gone. Even if you're dual-tanking, though, your armour WILL just fall apart at the sight of missiles - Turret-mounted or Swarms.

Or would you prefer I compare my Militia Shotgun to that AR. When I'm in my Shotgun's optimal range, I can usually gun down a Heavy faster than his AR can kill me.
Not saying ARs aren't a little better than they should be, just that the OP crying is taking the problem WAY out of proportion. |

Scheneighnay McBob wrote:how about an advanced tactical scrambler pistol? I'll let you have scrambler pistol operation IV and sidearm sharpshooter IV because that's what I have. FYI it's a salvage-only gun. What are you calling your "preferred range" with the weapon? And when using a high-precision weapon (or at least, the closest the Sidearm slot has to one), are you using that advantage and aiming for headshots?
I suck at pistols in most FPS games, unless they're machine pistols. Or the Ritchie Revolver in Brink. Which I sometimes use like a Sniper Rifle. I suck at sniping most of the time too (again, with the exception of the Ritchie in Brink).
I don't think Sidearm vs. Light Weapon is meant to be a fair fight anyway. Unless I can start the fight within my own optimal range, which requires me to have traveled through the entire preferred range bracket of the AR without getting shot, I'm going to lose with my SMG. If you're trying to use a Sidearm as a primary, you might be doing it wrong. |

1. Aim faster. If you can't, fire as soon as you're aimed at centre mass, then trace up the torso for a follow-up headshot
2. Get better at fitting yourself for tanking incoming fire. Several of my all-BPO Militia Assault fittings can survive more than a second of GEK fire.
3. Bring a Heavy suit. No need to tank that and you've already got a couple of seconds. Maybe 3 with a bit of luck.
4. Fit yourself for low scan profile and avoid direct contact until you've got your shot lined up on the BACK of their head. People tend to be less alert when you're shooting them from behind. Takes a while to pinpoint your location. |
